Great thread, great pics. The memories come flooding back. AMA at Laguna and Sears Point. The Superbikes that you could buy at the dealer and throw a number plate and go race.

Paul Vogel is alive and well in Sac. He helped me get my Triumph back on the road and did a fantastic job tuning the carbs. The Thunderbird Sport is running better than ever!:thumbup

Bob (aka "your Dad")

Not sure where this is or who is the other rider, maybe you guys can help identify who my dad is racing.

RD350 wrecking crew.

Even your Dad's silhouette haunted me when I started racing in 76. I knew what it looked like from behind quite well.

Last ones... :(

A few of the hand out posters from KSJO events.

KSJO used to give me CD's to give away and that is how I became friends with Ralph Sheheen, then AFM announcer.

Ralph made a living out of broadcasting and was a good guy that launched to that success via the AFM.

Tough years racing my cheap n ez 550 # 464 the gpz just had nothing on the ninjas etc... Still had a blast...

Wow!!

I just went through this post completely for the first time. Mind boggling. I was from the Sac. crew in the 70s. Paul Vogel and I were roommates for years. I see so many name and things that blow my mind. I was not far behind Ed Unini and Paul Ritter On that faithful day at turn 8. Also just behind Elkins at Ontario when He bailed. I can't contain the flood of great memories. I wish they were not so muddled. Anyway I have scanners and time and would be happy to document this stuff if anyone would be interested. I challange the 70s folks to step up. Thanks

I hope these are as readable here as they are on my computer. Might have to zoom in on `em. Nice to see Chris Crew's name in there. This might have been when Art Chambers was running that ex-Luchinelli Ducati?

I knew David Pare (see 450 supersport). I worked at his composites shop in 2011. Really cool dude, RIP David.

Wow great thread!! I've been wondering lately if any of the photogs from the late 80's early 90's would still have any shots from back then.

The 87 sheet had several names I recognized racing against, Jeff Leggitt, but he was on a KR1S 250, Dave Deveau of course, Dwayne Chung on the Cycle Gear CBR600 the year before they went with the ZX7. Mike Earnest on the 2-fitty. I was on the track the same time as these guys, but it would be pushing the limits to say I raced "against" them!

Hole shot (1985 rookie season) Pics a little fuzzy

This was 600SS. I'm on an absolutely bone stock out of the crate RZ500. These guys are on fully pumped 600's with slicks etc. I'm pretty sure that's Woo behind me and I see Pittman in the white leathers. The guy in red leathers #4 was pretty quick if my memory serves me. I can't remember his name though. The guy in third was on the FJ600. Actually this class was mostly Ninja's and FJ's. I think the guy on the outside mid pack ( green leathers) may have been Glen Sopher...I may have the spelling wrong. The afm produced some excellent racers over the years. I need to go to a race next year and support the club. Sure miss the good old days of racing. It was just different back in the day. I could run the RZ in 4 or 5 classes...open gp, 750ss, 600ss, F1 for $100.00 bucks.

Happy riding barfer's
