I read recently that if you've already had Covid and get the vaccine, you'll have much stronger symptoms than a person who has not had it. Possibly stronger than the second dose for those who haven't had it. It also said that they're trying to determine if you even need the second dose if you've had it already.

Looked for it, but couldn't find the article. It was probably from ArsTechnica.com

^^^ This!

I found out after the fact and read up on that. The day after my vaccine was as bad as my worst day with covid with how tired I was.

Also, the stronger the symptoms = a stronger immune system response, which probably = better future immunity.

There are mixed opinions on whether those who already had covid need a second vaccine, and a study supported it not being necessary. But I'm probably getting my second one anyways. I have an appointment card.

My mom already had hers. She's a nurse so was rolled to the front of the line. My dad has been trying and was just able to get his first shot last week. He's 67, COPD, multiple cancer survivor including lung when they took his upper right lobe, had open heart surgery to repair a bad valve in his heart about 10 years ago...etc. etc.

Personally, I'm going to wait a while until I try to get mine. I'd prefer that those most at risk get theirs first. I'm also what the government considers essential, being an airline employee. But I'm in reasonably good health, so, I'll wait. I just don't see it right for me to take away from someone who most likely needs it more than I do.

I watched a piece on the Bryant Gumbel sports show, last week. They did a piece on collegiate and Olympic level athletes who contracted COVID-19, and 8 months later they are still dealing with it. They call them ‘long haulers’. None of the athletes can ‘work out’, at all, much less return to competition. Issues range from breathing, heart issues, and systemic body pain. None of the athletes featured had any preexisting conditions and all were between the ages of 16-30.
Oh: no tests revealed any insight on what the cause is for this ongoing post COVID-19 shit.

I used to think like you, till I started researching the long haulers. Hard pass on COVID-19.

I got mine today, Pfizer shot at Oakland Coliseum. The MyTurn site doesn't really do shit in terms of notifications. Its supposed to notify of you any open appointments available but I got my booking because a friend gave me the heads up. Getting to the site is another thing. I had a later day appointment and google maps was telling me 35 min drive. So I'm sitting in my car like a dumbass thinking I didn't want to show up too early.

Next thing you know traffic comes to a complete standstill on 880 because you have all the dumbfucks trying to cut in at the last second to take the exit. Took me 3 hours from my appointment time to the time I got my actual shot. Guy giving me my shot said today they hit max cap at 8000 shots. Previously they were only doing about 6000.
