Anyone have any connections with City of Oakland Building Dept or better yet work there? I'm an architect with several projects in Oakland and they have fallen into a black hole. I have met a few moto enthusiasts there in the past and hoping to find one now who might offer some guidance. We work in many jurisdictions, have exhausted all the official channels, and have gotten no where.

Thanks in advance. Stay safe.

Sorry, but UR now officially Ded. Liek so ded.

Oakland was the absolute worst BEFORE the pandemic, now, they are a bureaucratic apocalypse.

If you are planning over $100,000 in work, do not forget your mandatory Sewer Lateral inspections...

I know folks there (I'm an Oakland-based architect and do a little expediting, so I know folks, but don't know what you need). PM me. We can take this offline.

I'm truly so sorry to hear this. When it comes to transparency and the Oakland government, you are looking at black hole.

Basically phone calls, emails, pleas and other forms of interaction are worthless. The department has cleverly instituted a phone system that makes sure that you never can contact an official, except a phone tree clerk, who will forward you to a full voice box.

Send a certified letter.

Haha this reminds me of the Alameda Court House in downtown Oakland. They have a drop box for filings but they keep it locked except between 1-4 pm, forcing you to take a number, wait in line, and file in-person. Which of course means you are sitting on your ass for 2 hours. Adding insult to injury, they often don't unlock the dropbox until like 2:30, so really you only have a 90 minute window to file.

They never forget to lock it again right at 4, however.
