New SF Bay Area rider

Hello everyone. :) I've ridden for a few years when living in Florida, but had a 5+ year break after moving to Californa. I just bought a 2003 VFR800 with 2100 miles (2300 after 2 days of ownership) and loving it so far. This and the RC51 are a couple of my dream bikes so I'm psyched to now own one with so few miles.

It's a huge upgrade from my old '82 CB450T Hawk. I rented a VFR available on Riders Share a couple of months ago so it's not my first time on one, but it definitely sold me! Right now I'm looking at comfort mods and camera/phone mounts as I'm interested in touring with it. I plan to take a 3-4 hour ride in a couple of weekends but haven't picked a direction to go in yet.

Looking forward to meeting some of you at a future meet at some point! I'm planning to go by Alice's this weekend recommended by a coworker.

Wow, coming from Florida, you're going to find riding here significantly different. Eh...we have these things called " Corners"
Welcome to da Barfs.

@bikewanker and @usedtobefast

Thanks for the tips! The dealer (Mach 1 Motorsports in Vallejo) stated that the tires, battery, recall harness, and fuel pump & regulator (said those commonly go out with age), as well as fluids were changed.

Since the bike is so low mileage, after I put a couple tanks of gas through her I'll probably refresh her liquids just to be sure though!

So far the only thing obvious that I've had to do is clean and lube the chain. :)

Current plans:

-Find and learn how the new girl handles on corners and these really tall hills (thanks @Maddevill ) and get used to the extra weight.
-Ordered usb-charging port (done)
-Ordered xram phone mount (done)
-chain cleaner/lube/wax/brush (done)
-basic disc lock (done)
-Dowco cover (done)
-helibars bar raisers
-Corbin or Sargent seat
-Reflective wheel strips?
-Maybe fender delete kit
-led headlights?
-Maybe flapper/pair mods (honestly low rpm jerk doesn't feel as bad as the 02 I rented)
-Power Commander
-Storage, at least side, maybe something on top.

I want to try and keep it mostly stock, I -really- love the stock exhaust, but also would love to toss on something deep and throaty.
