Myself/Cyndi will be featured 'experts' on Mythbusters this Wednesday at 9PM if I'm reading the schedule right on the Discovery channel website...
The myth involves if you hook a fish while sport fishing, and the line is pulled out of the reel fast enough, will it generate enough friction/heat to cause the reel to burst into flames?
We actually did the filming back in March...
They had Cyndi/I and the F1 rig at the airbase and used the F1 as the 'fish' in the final 'over the top' scenario. I took a couple cracks at pulling the line out of the reel with the F1 geared to give me a 150+ mph top end within the limitations of the runway.
A couple photos I have...
MB picked up the shell and took it up to MI-5 where they said they were going to lay white vinyl over parts of the body so they could paint it to look like a fish. They said the work would be done by a a professional muralist... Then they sent me this photo. :teeth
Cyndi and I doing the traditional shake-n-bake before the first run...
And a group shot at the end of a long day in front of the cameras...
There is a bit of a sneak preview of the myth on the site right now, but no footage of us at the airbase...
