Looking for SJPD LEO help with stolen Ducati

So as an update to this thread on my stolen Ducati www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=538393&page=2

I had ads posted up on CL.
I got a text message on my cellphone from a 415 number and the person said they saw my bike, how much is the reward.
To shorten the details he says he left his bike in for repair to a shop in San Jose and saw my bike there. Stated that the shop guy gets others to steal them from him and turn them into track bikes.
Whether theres any validity to this or not, I'm not sure, but I was wondering that since he didn't block his phone number is this a lead that any SJPD LEO's would be able to follow up on.
Sorry for not figuring out how to embed the original thread link.

Thanks,

Murph

Try calling the Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATTF). 408-299-3853

Or SJPD Auto Theft Unit. 408-277-4051

I have, apparently they can't do anything since it's an Oakland PD case, unless Oakland get further or specific SJ info that they need assistance on.

Thank you Bojangle, I will, appreciate the info.

Makes sense if it's an Oakland case. However, if you have info on a possible chop shop in San Jose, try calling either of the numbers I posted. You might get ahold of someone who is interested in investigating it.

in case anyone wandering through doesn't' realize it, this thread is BARF gold. actual Officers answering questions helping someone out (which i know they do every day, but it's rarely so obviously on display on the intarweb)

we are extraordinarily fortunate to have LEOs that are willing to openly participate here

:thumbup

CL can offer up some gold but sadly lots of scammy doodoo.

The informer asking first and foremost about the reward makes me a skeptic. I would have simply offered up the name/address where I saw the stolen bike, wish you good luck and ask about the reward after if recovery was successful.

Offering up this dubious 3rd person info the the investigating LEO's maybe helpful but a major bummer if the info is part of a scam.

Seconded, and grateful for this forum as their platform.
And mods trying to keep it kosher. Not easy given the amount of lines you have to read between.

Thanks to all here.
