Long Barn Lodge, Sonora Pass, etc.

we were able to get away this weekend to Bungee Brent’s 13th Backwoods Bash. The Long Barn Lodge was happy to see about 30 riders show up on Friday, despite Covid and 111 degree F heat in Jamestown, ouch.

My friend Dave made a cool 3D/gps clip with Relive.com, which I’d never seen before, sort of Tour de France graphics:

Bungee Brent puts on a fun dual-sport ride and party on Saturday night, super-fun, and Long Barn less than 200 miles from San Francisco so it’s easy to get to. Nice to see the Long Barn Lodge sold out this weekend, and everyone being good about masks, etc. heard all the other open motels we’re booked, and the camp grounds were full ... certainly lots of traffic and lots of cars at the swimming holes ... :angel

was on my ‘88 K75s which didn’t miss a beat after sitting for nearly two years waiting for me to figure out how to fix the worn out starter ... :facepalm:party

hoping to try out Relive.com myself later in July for the BARF Weaverville Rally, thought it’s pretty neat ... :ride

Nice trip. I did a Relive of a variation of that route about a month ago. https://www.relive.cc/view/v8qV1m8w236. Relive is interesting. The free level limits your trip to 10 pics, there's no editing once you finalize and there's no access to the photos you take in the app for the videos. I don't think I would pay the sub fee but it's a neat toy.

very cool route ... liked the top speed, and your pics! :thumbup:laughing

yes, Dave said he ultimately paid the fee, so he could add music. I want to try it for a multi-day trip, but imagine I’ll let my smart phone will run out of battery or I’ll forget to turn it one one day in the middle of the trip ... :facepalm

thanks for the link to your trip, it was fun to see the all the snow at Mosquito Lake a month ago ... :ride

Nice! I thought the Bungee Brent ride was a dual sport event, or maybe there is more than one ride? Hope to join on one of these rides at some point when life is less hectic than it currently is. Thanks for pics and relive! Looking forward to Weaverville!

yes, guess it's a dual-sport event, but you know me, always happy to show up on an inappropriate bike in order to enjoy the party. :laughing

Bungee is happy to see street or vintage bikes, though, and can always provide route ideas in the area tailored to whatever ... be fun to show up with you on vintage bikes someday ... :ride

couple more pics:

Long Barn and a couple of the serious plated dirt bikes that made up most of the crew ...

the wonderful entertainment on Saturday night ... that's Bungee Brent splashing through a water crossing on the way up to Eagle Meadows ...

masks the order of the day in this C-19 era.

hope to see you in Weaverville, or on the way there! :party
