Is A 2017 Beta 125 RR-S With A 200cc BBK A Good Idea?

I've been watching YouTube channels, reading forums and looking at dealers listing recently looking for a nice dual sport that fits my current needs and it almost seemed liked the more I learned about some of the popular bikes, the more I started to dislike the idea of owning one, mostly Japanese Dual sports from I was coming go understand and from what everyone says, KTM has been doing well with its line up and its kinda of what I'm looking for but too pricey. Its lightweight, powerful but annoying to maintain and seeing as its out of my price range, lately, I've been thinking off getting a used or new bike and boring it out for more of a budget KTM type dual sport and the beta seems like a good candidate
Plus, I don't thing california is loosening up on emissions anytime soon or else I'd plate a dirt bike....:(
What do you guys think?

Seen some bbk on another forum, might haven't to add the link.

Betas are AWESOME!! I was looking at that plated 125 just to have it.

We bought our Betas from MotoXotica in Vacaville. Dan is brutally honest with respect to what the bikes can and can't do.

It'd be worth while for you to consider emailing him.

At 220# dry weight...I'm not impressed. I'd reach for a 350...even if used. Saw a barely used Husky 350 plated on CL for $8k. The 350 is twice the motor for a pound or two more.

That little Beta is pretty awesome in person. Folks are saying it feels very much like a 2 stroke, and it comes with a plate.

Sometimes more motor isn't necessarily better depending on what you want to do. I'm interested in the 125, for off road you don't necessarily need that much more power. The 180 kit would make road portions more livable.
