Hwy 33

Anyone recently been on Hwy 33? How's the road? I'll be headed to SoCal tomorrow and rather than slabbing the whole way I thought I'd do something a little more scenic, although there's not much one can do for central valley and scenic. Picking 33 up in Taft and rolling it though to Ojai. Looks like an awesome road in parts.
Any intel is good intel.
Thx.

33 I'm taft to Ojai is a pretty fun ride but it's been years since I've done it so I can't vouch for the quality of the road at this point.
since you're heading that direction my suggestion is the inland route 25 to 198 then Peachtree and Indian Valley to San Miguel for fuel then from San Miguel out to Creston down 229 to 58 58 to California Valley and then soda lake road from through California Valley to 166. Soda lake road is mostly paved and what is not paved is pretty decent gravel but that's the minority of the road not the majority. From 166 you're going to have to go over to Taft to get fuel then come back out on 166th to 33 to head south. If you don't want to do the soda lake road you could continue on 58 all the way to Taft That's not a bad ride either That's actually the funnest part of 58.

Thanks I'll have to check out some of those roads at some point. Coming out of Sac they're a little out of the way. Looks like I'll be slabbing I5 to Avenal and down 33 through Taft and on into Ojai. Trying to get out of Valley before the heat shows up.

I was down there in april on a group ride. If you've never done it, it's in good condition, recommended :thumbup
