Hospital capacity tool

I'm curious to know what number of patients in the beds are local. One hears that rural places tend to be less cautious about Covid, and I wonder if folks are being shipped to my county from less urban places because they don't have capacity where they're at. This in turn may be causing me to have to take precautions when in fact, it might not be locals filling up the beds. It's a little petty on my part--it doesn't really matter, right? Sick people are sick people, and the bug doesn't care about county lines. But the little bitch in me is wondering if a buncha rednecks who refuse to wear masks are lying in hospital beds in the facility 2 minutes from me, while I'm passing up spending the holidays with my family. Ya know? : |

There are definitely folks transferred in from elsewhere (and prisons for that matter). Case counts are still up from local testing though (SF recorded 300 new cases on 12/1 versus 64 on 11/1) so I'd say it's general idiocy combined with the bay area being the best place to get care when severely ill.

This map is kinda crap. It doesn't have many of the hospitals on it, let alone bed data. On the SCC map, where is O'Connor? where is SJ Regional? Where is St Louise? I mention this because these 3, just ran out of ICU beds.

They will begin transferring non-covid and transportable patients to De Paul tonight in an effort to "circle the wagons"

No way to tell but it is definitely happening in both directions.

I'm sure...

Half my clients seem to be up in Tahoe at their vacation homes right now. I can only imagine what it's like to be a f/t resident in Kings Beach for instance, and have a bunch of bay area a-holes infesting your town during all this.
