Honda Grom owners!

teh Barfs

Nothing in the Grom is advanced. That's what makes it brilliant. You can do all the service with a 10+12+14mm wrenches and some pliers, including the valve adjustment.

If you enjoy riding on a scooter, good for you. I'll take a manual trans with 4 gears over the scooter garbage any day of the week.

I ride a bunch of different bikes. I have fun on all of them. But I don't get all butt hurt because a technology on one of my bikes is lacking. What's funny is that you got offended by me saying that the Grom was a lesser bike, and then you go on to say it's not advanced, and that's a good thing. Guess it's okay when you say it, right?

Wally--dude you have serious issues.

Hi, I am playing with this idea of purchasing a Grom, street legal mimi.

I'd like to hear from all of you, Grom owners,

Are you happy with your Grom?

After market parts you'd recommend?

Any thought in comparison with Kawasaki counter part, Z125?

Any input is welcome.

Thank you!

I'll be joining the fun soon. I recently picked up a 2015 in stock form. :ride

Welcome to the Pit club, Mark! I look forward to riding mini's with you again. Speaking of, IIR, there is a SF ride this Sat. But, I won't make it, due to other commitments.

There are several Grom (mini) groups on FB. Join to keep up with the latest; BaG (Bay area Grom), NorCal Grom Lifestyle, Norcal Grom Spot, RideEasy - Bay Area Scooter & Mini Bike Community. Each has their click friends / riders, fwiw.

I rode a Z125 demo at the WSBK races, on their mini road coarse. It did not take long to adapt and ride some spirited laps. The bike felt planted and braked well, under load. Tires seemed confident inspiring as well. Being it was a demo, I was aggressive, but not so much to drag knee or risk laying it down. My impression? out-of-the-box, stock to stock, it is a better canyon carver and track / race bike, than the Grom.

As for top speed, I don't know. The coarse was catered to a track like config (short). Therefore, I was unable to do a top speed run.

Daren how does your KX65 compare on the track?

On Grom rides I've been on they are very clicky. One guy I know sold his Grom because he felt that the Grom rides were over run by thugs. Many of these rides I've gone on have people stunting in an exceedingly unsafe manner. Which is exasperated by the fact than a good number of the Grom riders are very inexperienced.

It's nice to see some life put back into the Mini's scene, but I really can't say that there's been much positive with it. Every Grom ride I go on feels like it's going to become one of these shit-storms.

So far, enjoying the nimbleness of the 65. Now if I can only learn / adapt to holding the bike up with my knee at extreme lean angles. I have a habit of pulling my knee inward. Just not enough seat time or time to practice.

As for the Grom rides I have been on, they aren't as bad as you portray them to be. Again, these are the rides I've participated in or hosted. Sure, some may crash (mostly due to lack of experience), and some may stunt (in parking lots, at stops). But, for the most part, enjoy the fun of it, sharing the passion of riding and the company.

What do these used Groms tend to sell for. I know what they are listed for on CL but they are the same Groms that never seem to sell. What about the TaoTao Helcat as an option. A store in Sacramento has them for $1500. Anyone buy one of these yet?

I just picked up a 2017 Grom with 400 miles on the clock for $3,900. You all might say it's a foolish price to pay, but it was the toy I wanted for zipping around the city. No dealers were letting it go for under $4,300 after tax and fees.

Anyways, after I totalled my 600RR on Geary street four years ago, I thought I was done with motorcycles. The Grom was a change of heart. It feels fun and casual, and I could care less about going 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

Great to be back, I live in the Sunset area if anyone wants to Grom around!

If it comes down to the wire, rent a U-haul van. Have the seller help you lift it up. I'm sure you'll find BARFER in your area to help you unload it. Good luck and hope to see you in future mini bike rides.

I too bought a used 2015. Go to http://powersports.honda.com/recalls.aspx to see if yours is in the recall list for 'FUEL PUMP INLET COVER' swelling. Mine is in the list and the PO didn't bring it in according to Honda.
