Hollister Hills closed 12/31 till further notice

I think it was more to do with Hospital being overwhelmed ... like number of people showing up at ER with Covid complications, they would come in as an ER patient just like a hurt dirt biker from HH would show up to the ER.

So following this rational people should not ride MTB/EMTB either and the parks should be shootdown for MTB usage.

I guess we can continue speculating somewhat like a person having a Stockholm syndrome https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome

But the fact is they correlated to ICU beds and not the ER.

Saw thread on SBR which someone called the HH ranger and they said it's closed b/c of ICU capacity and "can't" open just b/c stay at home order is lifted. So looks like it will be little bit longer before they reopen.

Someone else posted on same thread that the original HH notice did say they would reopen when stay at home order is lifted which was good point.

I believe they are saying that, but it doesn't make much sense. The hospital in Hollister is a Level nothing (I think its 4)- so anyone that can't be treated with a bandaid is headed up to San Jose (several Level I or II trauma centers) or Salinas (Level II). If a ground ambulance is taking you to San Jose, you might as well have packed your shit and drive yourself (or let you riding buddy drive you up) and save the $8000.

Completely agree. Moto accidents get a helicopter ride up north. They were about to give my kid the helo ride until the doctor said, "she walked in" and like that no helo ride, no meat wagon. She walked out an hour or two later with a bandaid.

Hi does this place usually get crowed on let's say when the pandemic wasn't in effect?

Occasionally. Holiday weekend, or nice weather after some rain, or beginning of red sticker season, they reach capacity. Folks were turned away in the beforetimes.

Hardly ever. Only on weekends and holidays. A little bit on school breaks. Typical Monday through Friday when I go riding there during red sticker I MIGHT come across one or two other bikes in full day on the trail and even then not even within 50 feet of each other. Most all of the trails are one way.

If they're really concerned about Covid and keeping park patrons happy, then close it on weekends and holidays.
