Hello Barfers and Lurkers too..!

The Bay Area Riders Forum crew of volunteers wish you much joy in 2014.!!

As always 365 days consume a lot of life and can go by oh so quick. Taking a moment to remember what those days meant this year is good for the soul.
Well at least it is for my soul so I am going to do it.! :afm199

Whether it was...Great days at the track.
...Awesome fun with friends on a ride.
....Hanging with friends at a social event.
....Just going rally crazy.
.....Family and friends.. the list goes on and on.. each of us having our own epic moments to remember.

So my list of things that made 2013 stand out good and bad.
First a new granddaughter Elzi ~ Welcome kiddo.

Austin MotoGP with some good friends and watching Anthony Alonso do his rookie cup thing.. after years of racing he is at the cusp of making a career out of it. The family moved to Spain to support that dream.. man. :wave Alonso’s!

The Hawthorne Rally was a watermark on my life this year because it proved I made it past my health issues and could still put in a thousand mile plus 3 day ride weekend. Because of the Rim fire the roads were empty and the ride more epic than anticipated. The Pie ride before that with Butch and flying_hun was the first test and I passed, but not with the flying colors I was hoping for so Hawthorne was the 2013 proving ground.

Having my Pops go through a minor stroke (TIA- same deal as I had) and recover well and carry on was good…. And his 80th surprise BDAY party was one of the most special times of the year for sure. Lot of great folks there. Warm fuzzies wrapped me up.

Lost a long time bud Dennis Anderson..
Barf lost a good member too…. Robbie Hoyt aka rapidrobbie
..and we lost a new member JJ aka: 1907 way too soon to get to even meet the young man. Just three days after I said welcome to him in the newbie forum he was gone.. :(
Godspeed men :rose Thanks for sharing a bit of who you were with me.
Sometimes I go through the Gone But Not Forgotten forum and give a tip of the hat to those that ARE NOT forgotten.

The injury to Dave Stanton and his strength, the family resolve and awesome show of love from the racing community will be remembered. Keep on keeping on Dave. :thumbup

For the first time in years I felt disconnected from the AFM as the knee replacement and following surgeries left me somewhat weak and traveling alone to the last couple of races was something the wife felt I should not do.. and to be honest.. I felt it too. That will change in 2014!

We got to see the CHP issue the Lane Sharing Guidelines and now seeing the AMA officially support the practice is awesome.
Surj made a big push to get the word out and share knowledge with us and the whole share the lane deal has some strong ties to the forum here.
Awesome.. :applause

We got to see Khan and a couple of really adventurous members ride through Pakistan and then surprise all by showing up at the after Party!...
He is at it again and more barfers are going to ride into the sunset of far off land.. :cool

Woodschick took us along for her 50th bday ride...! :party

We also got to see Alan ride/ race at the Isle of Man.. :wow fricking awesome man!!!
… and we saw flying_hun visit the Isle too.. leaving a little of Gary in the care of Joey Dunlop’s soul.. :angel

Jeff Tigert rocked Pikes Peak and let me write about it.

We had our first real dirt bike get together… even the snow and cold could not keep the riders from enjoying the ride and their fellow riders.

We saw our last MotoGP at Laguna and the return of the World Superbike series.

We saw babies born.. families celebrate and cry for their losses.

We saw life through the eyes of our community.

This last part is from the barf is more than a dub dub dub thread in the best of barf forum. It still applies because barf remains and we will make more memories together because we are willing to take the risk to really live life. Props to you all for that..! :thumbup

We are going racing again.. we will win some.. lose some.. and live well.

We will face adversity.. challenges.. drama.. and have fun in between.

We will :ride and :teeth and :cry and :laughing ..

You all are barf.. not a www. kind of thing.. a human thing.

Thanks for that.

Happy New Year

..and to the Mrs. Thanks for dealing with getting me back to health and my crazy love for the Moto.

^^^^ So beautifully said!!

And I truly hope to see you out at the races this coming year... you've got a standing invitation to chill in our pits, there's air conditioning, seats, and (you know me!) lots and lots of food!! Would love to have you join us for our obligatory tri-tip BBQ on Saturday night, or the lunch feast on Sunday!

This year saw a whole bunch of rescues again on teh BARF's... the Roadside Angels were out in force, and SFCootz was even kind enough to come rescue MY ass from 4 Corners!

I'd like to award the first ever "Extreme Roadside Angel Rescue" to Forrest/Angelsndevils for putting his 2 year old daughter in his truck, and then driving 11 hours to rescue BARFer ClemKevin from waaaaaay up in Northern California, and then with Gwynne/ThumperX getting him to the Bay Area, so his brother could come up from Orange County and get him home the rest of the way!
Every single volunteer is what makes it possible... and I would like to thank ALL of you for volunteering... for dropping everything to go scoop a stranger up off the side of the road, and get them home. Many of you do this over and over again (SFCootz, BigB, Cincinnatus)... others drive some serious mileage (Splat & Angelsndevils)... but all of you epitomize what it means to be on teh BARFs... which is, quite simply, "Family".

This is so true and what really differentiates BARF from other online forums. Bud you did an excellent job laying the foundation and of course, cultivating the growth. I've met some people through BARF that I now consider some of my best friends. I love this community, snark and all! :twofinger

Hope to make a few more barf rides this year. Enjoyed the Tuesday Marin ride. Missed Connie's birthday ride up mines. Hope she has another this year.

Hope a few more barf riders can make the SMC all day rides this year. Bill's birthday ride will be on my birthday ride this year.

Ride safe all.

I will indeed! And one of my resolutions for 2014 is to have more Group & Newbie Rides. Didn't do hardly any last year... :(

Happy new year!

2013 was good and bad for me. I'd take it over the prior few years.

My goal/resolution is to ride more in 2014! Just today I got on the back for a late afternoon ride and racked up 50 miles of high speed twisties, and one puck down.

And I'll mirror Connie's commitment to head up more group rides. I haven't done that in years.
