Shot a 79 at Coyote Creek Tournament course on Monday...decided fuck it I'm ending 2020 in style, rain or shine, and kicking off the new year.

Pebble Beach on 12-25-20
Spyglass on 1-1-21

I've never played either and the last 2 months have been expensive as all fuck but screw it.

As much as I'd embarrass myself there, I'd still love to play Pebble. Damn sure don't have the coin right now, though.

They had a flash sale. $475 and you get a round at Pebble + round at Spyglass, but you had to book both immediately and Pebble had to be either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Had plans with family for Christmas Eve but nothing for Christmas day so...

Normal price is like $650 for Pebble and $300 for Spyglass so I figured it was a relative steal and fuck 2020.

Ouch, but then again it's Pebble. I might have to give it a few more to improve before heading to the big leagues.

$650 to demonstrate an inability to correctly address a little white ball with a very expensive club. In front of friends and strangers? While dressed in a funny costume?

I am obviously poor relations.

Now if you want the spectacular desert green golf,
that be Emerald Canyon GC, in Parker Az.

I realize you're trolling, but I'll bite...

My clubs were less than $200. I'm sure you spend more on your motorcycle. And no one wears "funny costumes". It's not 1895 anymore.

Speak for yourself with that inability...heh. It's a skill like any other - takes time to develop and is frustrating while learning but utterly satisfying when you nail it. And the scenic views are very difficult to beat. Riding motorcycles is a thrill; golfing is the "don't forget to stop and smell the roses" part of life. As with all things, balance is important.

Also, snowboarding is a bit of both - epic scenery and views combined with a thrill.

NGL though John Daly's always been an inspiration. :laughing and I'm definitely getting more into the "loud" colored attired (bright orange polo shirts and such) for visibility on the course. I swear if one more group hits it into me because they think I'm taking too long....

Went back to the 2014 page and noted that I've slowed my swing speed from 120+ down to about 111, and brought my scores back down into the single digits over par...sometimes.

TBH, I laugh at the guys that come to the course dressed like they're Rickie Fowler but play as badly as I do. Dude, save the money you're dumping on those skinny white pants, white spikes, bright orange shirts and belts and hit another bucket at the range. Or pay for some lessons. :laughing

Also, I think Pushrod was referencing people who dressed like Payne Stewart.

I'm not sure I'm comfortable enough with myself to rock Daly's line of pants. Not surprisingly though, if I played well enough to not care, I'd happily rock the flat cap, long wool socks and knickerbockers. :laughing

Well to be fair this was more what I meant with regard to Daly :

3-wedge set for $167.00

*I do not receive a commission*

I saw their 72* wedge someone posted on Reddit that they'd bought as a joke for a friend but ended up loving. They're on my radar for a shits and giggles "why not give it a shot..." (though I'd probably go with the 66* and not the 72*).

Just holding off on buying any new gear till my bike sells. Then it's game on.

What would a distance be on a 72° wedge? Like 50y?

I’ll just take a short swing with a 56° and call it good. :laughing
