Funky Fork Lengths?

Are different length forks a thing these days?
This is my first bike with USDs and adjustable suspension. While removing the front axle we noticed that it was binding and a real pain to remove. With the wheel off it was clear that the fork legs are significantly different in length. Seems like something is not quite right here...

You left fork (as you ride the bike, the one with the brake caliper) has likely dis-assembled itself internally. Probably the ‘damper rod’ unscrewed itself from the cap. (Though it could be the mid valve)
Push up on the forks gently - does the longer one feel different up to the height of he other one?
Either way I suggest not riding the bike until you solve the issue.

Oh joy -eyeroll- I'm interested to get in there and look at it. Never opened up USDs before. I definitely just rode 700 miles on it, so we shall see what got smashed up in there. Thank you for the advice!

Small differences can be caused by dramatically diff preload amounts. But that’s not a small diff - something is wrong for sure.

Had it happen on my Tuono on a ride :wtf:
When I got home and removed the wheel thats what my forks looked like.
I think you will need to do a service at the least so you can get things back together.:thumbup

As mentioned, a fork cap come loose, or a pair of modified top out springs that were cut to different lengths.

I got sent to work in Texas for a month and then the holiday. Going to pull the forks next weekend finally. This is the real problem with having multiple bikes- at least one is always down for maintenance/repairs. Will report back with news soon. Hopefully it's an ugga dugga away from wheelies again!
