Enloe/Calstar Flightcare Program

I originally posted this on NBSR but thought it would be useful here too.

I would like to provide to you Enloe Medical Center's Flightcare Program, which allows you to sign up for helicopter life lift services for $25/year. This program is not only for the track, but is dependent on the coverage area.

Here is the link to the .pdf: Flightcare Membership Sign-up Sheet.
Sign up for the group rate and enter "Thunderhill" or "K@TT" for the group name.

Here is the link to their website: Enloe Website.

Think about it, $25 (or $35 for the family plan) is well worth the sacrifice in case something happens where a helicopter lift is the only means of getting you to a hospital...it will save you thousands of dollars!

Enloe has an agreement with Calstar where if you sign up for Enloe only, you will get Calstar's coverage as well. Calstar covers tracks like Sears, BW, Willow Springs. I have confirmed this via telephone call.

What is the cost of a helicopter ride from say Infenion to the closest hospital?

I don't know, but I think rides from T-Hill to Chico is like $15,000.

Your health insurance may cover it, but not all...it might be good to check though.

Lowering my expectations
Good Stuff Kensaku, I just talked with one of the head Enloe Flight Care guys yesterday, I live a few blocks from the hospital.

The ride from T-Hill to Enloe costs $13,000 if you do not have this insurance!!! You would be stupid not to spend the $25-45 a year to CYA.

Kensaku mentioned there reciprocity agreement with Calstar, they also have deals with other hospitals in the area...for example I am allmost positive they have a deal with Mercy in Redding, so if something happens to you, just about anywhere in the northstate you will most likely be covered, and it could be anything, car accident, hurt camping or rock climbing, off roading/dirt biking etc etc..you get the idea.

I'm guessing they go by area, as in as far as their heli can go and come back. And where you're taken is by injuries or priorities as in one place might be full of trauma paitents and cannot accept you.

But does the same apply in the reverse, meaning do you get Enloe coverage if signed up with Calstar?

I had an accident at T-Hill on Apr 1st and was taken by helicopter to Enloe. I didnt have any broken bones or anything but they were considering internal bleeding because my boy had ran me over as I went sliding off of t6. He just couldnt avoid me.

The flight alone was almost 13,000. The Trauma visit was 18,xxx.

Thank God I had Kaiser insurance. they paid for everything minus my deductible which was $100 for ER visits and $75 for the helo ride.

If PTT would have made me aware that ClaStar offered this program I would have been the first one to sign up. Never knew about it 'til the RN on scene at the track made me aware of this program, by then it was too late. In no way am I faulting PTT, lets get that clear.

Well worth it, you never know when you're gonna need it.

18,xxx for the trauma visit and there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. Just a bruised kidney and broke a piece of rib cage cartiledge. Imagine if they would have done some type of surgery or if I did have internal bleeding? The bill would be sky high. I am thankful, Kaiser never called me or contacted me. They just paid the bill, sent me a letter of statement and told me that I'd be getting billed by Enloe for my deductible. Such a relief.

Thank God.

I think a mention of this would a good idea for the riders meeting. We will check into this flight insurence and have info at all the track days from now on. Does any body know how long it takes to go into effect? I'm wondering if you can sign up in the mourning on the net and be covered that day.

nando1, I was sorry to see your wreck but I'm glad there was no sierous trauma. I was about two bikes behind you guy's. Hope to see out there again.

You scratch my back...

FYI

Hey, I got this back from Ms. McKoy at CALSTAR:

"CALSTAR has reciprocal agreements with Enloe Flight Care of Chico, Air Life of Oregon, Lifeflight Network of Portland, OR, LifeFlight of Boise, Idaho, Wyoming LifeFlight of Casper, WY, and Bannock Lifeflight of Pocatello, Idaho. If you are a member with any reciprocal partner, and you are flown by any of these companies, your membership will be honored."

I just signed up. No idea why I never did this sooner. 55 for the whole family for a year is so cheap it's almost too good to be true. i coughed up 70 for the year just because i think what they do is awesome. Can't wait to slap that decal on my helmet.
