Some Rustolium 2in1 filler primer. This is the best aerosol filler primer I’ve found. The Duplicolor stuff never seems to set and stays soft which clogs sandpaper really fast.
I ended up rounding the vertical edges of the knee cutouts a little since they didn’t look right as they were.
That is about where I am at now. I hope to make the mold for the tank next month.

So in the end you abandoned the tank you made from scratch and are using the stock tank as a starting point to help with symmetry? Nice work by the way, nice to see what didn't work in addition to what did.

Yes, the foam tank was so out of shape and I really just wasn't happy with it. It was really wide and I was just burnt out with it so I started over with the stock tank.
I'm feeling the same way now after working on if for so long :rolleyes
A gas cap, same as a regular tank. It'll make more sense later.

I had a custom top triple clamp made since the stock item isn't flat so I'd have to machine the risers to match the angle. Besides, stock is boring. I had to "machine" the damper mount with a belt sander. It still needs a little work, but it works for now.

Bottom of the tank mold. I built a flange around it and covered the flange with clear shipping tape. I overlapped the tape onto the the edge of the bottom of the tank so it was seamless to the flange. Epoxy doesn't stick to the tape. I put down 7 layers of Maguire's mold release wax and 4 layers of Freekote release liquid stuff.
Homebrew epoxy gel coat discussed earlier in the thread. 385 grams of epoxy with 154 grams of West System 404 filler. Let sit for 10 min then brush on
After an hour at 89 degrees, not ready
After 2 hours at 89 degrees, ready for the fabric
I forgot to take a pic of the fabric so use your imagination.
It cured for 60 hours between 80 and 90 degrees. Epoxy specs specify 36 hours minimum with no specified temperature.
I had to smack it around a bit to get it to release. Patience is your best friend here especially since I need to keep the tank in good condition. Some of the paint came with it but turned out nice.
