About 10-20 people from BARF, Sport-Touring.Net and LABiker are getting together for a ride to Death Valley. Along with the sweepers and the techical stuff, this ride will have some super long straights in the middle of nowhere...
- i'm just talking here. :shhh
The way this one will go is that it's a "mutual destination" ride. So everyone starts together and the fast guys invariably find each other and split for some fun. Then the rest of us pretty much naturally filter into clusters of 3-5 riders with similar riding styles and comfort levels. Last but not least there is usually a picture taking group bringing up the rear who provide all the beautiful pictures you wish you had stopped to take but steal and tell your friends you took them anyway :laughing
Over the course of the day you'll end up in and out of various groups due to load adjustment stops, meals, gas stops ect... with the whole group meeting somewhere for lunch then again at the destination for dinner.
This way the groups are smaller and more manageable and everybody gets to ride their own ride. Since everyone one is riding the same road it's kind of cool because even though you are out in the middle of nowhere by yourself or with a few other lost souls you know that the rest of the group is only a few miles behind you or ahead of you at all times.
...except for mheinee who was always SEVERAL miles ahead of me. How many people can abuse a front tire like that? :ken5150 In-freaking-credible!!
It is a good way to put some names with faces, get some tips and to hang out with others who love to ride "them stupid murdercycles"
Anyway, here is the link. This ride is pretty much Saturday and Sunday in and out.
DV Ride
Instead of riding back here I will probably do the same as Nelson and head South with the Socal riders on Sunday then take the scenic route back to the Bay Area Monday or Tuesday.
