Covid lifestyle ... how you doing??

I was chatting with a friend earlier and realized how much of a ground hog life I am living.

I go to work (work and do some exercise, do some Barf, do some Joe Rogan or something YouTube podcast while I work)
I come home (usually swim)
Watch TV and BARF / sleep

I figure I see Max 20 people a week.
Not counting those I walk by.

Regulars:
Mrs
Dad
1 employee
5 deli employees
Clients 12 +/-

What a change. 100 plus human interactions a week. Heck 40 a day easy.
Being social. Having fun. :port

Now... saying what ups boys at the deli is as social as I get. Butch ands couple friends call me and I text a few friends too....but man. Shit is different. Kind of living in an episode of living off the grid. :laughing

How is your new lifestyle??

Pluses : minuses?

Working from home for the foreseeable future.

But now I can at least catch up with the other local friends for a beer after work.

Our neighborhood pool is open again. Sometimes I work from there for a change of pace since my normal work day is taking the HDMI cable and wireless keyboard/mouse plug from my personal laptop to my work laptop, then back again at the end of the work day.

We are allowed back at our office if you want/need to. Do that sometimes also for a change of pace.

Haven't gone back to my jiu-jitsu gym yet. Zoom training there, mostly cardio, and also my karate dojo.

Theater near home is open again but it's a ghost town. Went to watch a movie last week, I was the only one there. Going to watch Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back tomorrow. Probably the same.

That's where I'm at.

The main difference for retired me has been family interaction in restaurants about once/month and our monthly family meals that were hosted by one family in a three house rotation.

This time of year we had our rotating Monday Night Football evenings rotating among friends but not this year after 35 year straight.

Miss those.

Still bicycle ride (when the air is clean) visit friends socially distanced weekly and exercise the convertible in the twisties on a regular basis as my moto has been sitting for a year unloved.

We used to take an annual trip but I guess I got mine in early in March driving from Santa Rosa to Miami to deliver a car to my brother.

No family sit down dinners this year for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Not drinking more, not watching TV more so no mental anguish unlike some others I know.

Living out in the sticks here so not too much has changed.

I have worked from home for the last 6 years so no change there.

Still talk to my neighbors just try to stay 6 feet away while talking.

Still have to shop but use a mask even though almost no one here is using one anymore. I would say maybe 30% are using masks locally. In Lafayette, I would say the number is more like 80% which is where I shop now due to Lake Charles being mostly wiped off the map by Hurricane Laura.

I haven't gone back to the gym because it doesn't seem like too many precautions are being taken and I don't want to catch this and bring it home.

I haven't gone to a USPSA match in forever. The match is at an indoor range and there were usually about 30 people there if not more and not comfortable being in that environment right now...I believe they are holding matches again and have been for a bit.

My circle is 5 people
Myself, my wife, my son, my in-laws.
Their circle is the same.
So we've been "vacationing" together via airbnb every few weeks. Different set of 4 walls but it allows the housecleaners to come into our homes and do a really good job while we're gone.

I do a spin class almost everyday on my lunch.

We try and get out every weekend to something outdoors, either a hike or the beach. We plan it early since boy still naps from noonish to 2ish. The boy absolutely needs to run it out or life is a nightmare.

My circle is a triangle. Me, my wife, the dog. We get to the beach about once a week which is not at all crowded, and take daily walks. We cook at home and shop as needed. I work from my home office. We live near a smallish town and no infections have been reported here in quite a while, but some people do wear masks in stores and most of the staffers do.

Sometimes I go for a spin on the motorcycle, a couple of those were with the neighbors down the street. Nice people.

One of these days we'll go camping again. Fire season is approaching and I sure hope it will be better than last year.

Not ded yet, but might get bored there before much longer. I'm thankful I can finally work on the Dirtbag build to distract me.

I've only had a couple days off in the last 3 months.

I'm fucking tired.

Wife lost her immune system to leukemia a few years ago, our lifestyle eliminated outside human interaction to protect her. And since I am in introvert by nature, not much has changed.

On the plus side I get to send front porch evangelicals packing while feeling morally superior.

Home of Vortex tuning
Humboldt Co just hit yellow tier, bars, breweries, and wineries are open @ half occupancy.
I'll dine in but no belly up to the bar.

And give this up for purple next week?

Getting real tired of the isolation. Just see the wife, daughter in town and her family who are doing the isolation. Went to get a flu shot at Safeway, first time in a grocery store in 6 months. I did go for a ride and had lunch outside in Mariposa. My daughter in Texas got more than a little upset at me. We were going to drive to Texas the following week, had to delay a week to be sure I did not get Covid at the restaurant. She is 7 months pregnant and has had a hard time. So we got driving a week later. In Texas now just seeing the daughter, son in law and there two year old. Life is good just weird. Looking forward to this being over.

My wife works at an elementary school, weird for with no kids on-site. I'm a realtor laying low until the vaccines are avaliable and tested. We're both 60. We canceled all our trips but I still ride when I can.

This kinda, for me.
Except I am an extrovert, I suppose, and continue to annoy people.

-Thankfully still have my job working for the City.
-Seeing my immediate family
-Went back to climbing as soon as the climbing gyms reopened.
-Ordered a squat rack as I have a feeling gyms are going to shut down again soon.
-Dating life is non-existant.
-Dont really talk to many of my friends anymore as I fucking hate anything Zoom.
-Formed a BJJ pod with a few buddies and its been great.

All in all, I can't complain too much.

Looks like SF is about to dip back into purple, funny enough all the new restrictions that comes along with won't change how I've been living since March anyway. I WFH home (commute is great) see friends outside at parks and have trusted friends who I'll go for walks / outdoor dining with. Had some nice masks a friend made out of fabric my partner and I picked out. I feel pretty lucky (maybe a little guilty) as I know it's hitting many people a lot harder.

I am attending a very mini HS reunion tomorrow.
1/2 dozen HS buds on our football field bleachers.

Hoping it grows. The bleachers are large and lots of room.
Started with two of us three months ago. Expecting 8 tomorrow. One class mate has passed due to the 🦠

Expect another one or two before we handle this.

Life has not changed much from my OP.
Working harder really. A bit more frustrated but still moving forward. On foot in front of the other one day at a time.

I will start coaching at the #1 boys HS track team in CA this coming week, I'm hoping that CIF (California HS sports) will allow Track to have a season next spring after cancelling their season right at the start last year.

My wife is retired, my son is doing HS on Zoom and I work from home, so my exposure is minimal.

I think that the vaccines will be game changers, but it's going to be a complex process both with the delivery and selection, so it could be mid spring before we really start seeing improvements.

Life goes on. I am still 2-3 week from back on the bicycle ( on a trainer) and eagerly await that. My workouts now are 1 mile walks and washing the dishes. In three more weeks I hope to begin modified light weight lifting. We will see. The problem is I have something like five bone grafts to heal/
