Corona Virus are you ready?

Not here to tell Snaggys story but he was retire-able and we spoke of it.

Not sure he did but wouldn’t be shocked if he’s figuring out a new way forward

My wife has been frequenting a couple of website for COV data, worldmeters.info and ncov2019.live.

But I guess they both are no longer reporting the Critical numbers on a country by country basis.

Is that data easily available anywhere?

Is there any way to track how close (or not) counties are to shifting in their color code status?

JH data is still showing country data. My tool (in sig) utilizes the JH data.

Blueprint for a Safer Economy has county data, they update it every Tuesday about mid day.

Nope, not at all.

Feel bad for all the hospitality workers that are going to die.

Texas is removing the statewide mask mandate and opening back up too.
Of course they are.

In another state, Virginia is showing some really fishy (compared to other state numbers) data, their new cases curve is far below most of the worst states but their death rates are the highest in the country. Either they are hardly doing any testing in that state or something else is going on.

Here are their deaths/million numbers over the last 6 days:
17.45 18.27 27.41 21.67 19.91 27.06

United states deaths/million:
9.70 7.00 7.04 4.64 3.31 4.32

oh, Missouri is opening, too now.

because it's just too damn much to wait a bit for the vaccine to be more widely distributed, I guess

Not a smart move with the variants gaining steam.

I was just wondering about this. Seems a lot of coverage about the variants has died down. Have there been any recent studies on variants vs existing vaccines? Last I read there was some indication vaccines were slightly less effective, but it wasn't clear if it was significant or not.

The dumbassery is irrefutable.

Governor Abbott of Texas was too timid. He should have done this months ago so as not to prolong the misery in his state. The fact is that shutting down businesses under the boot of the state doesn't seem to have any advantage over letting people follow their own common sense, and it causes far more hardship.

The following graphs are drawn with the vertical axes proportional to population, and in all cases there's a 50:1 ratio between the left axis (cases, hospitalization) and right axis (deaths), so visual comparisons are objectively reasonable.
