Oh. Have only seen local agency SUVs, not CHP, at the local Ford dealer.

Thanks for clarifying that.

I’m with a local agency myself, we don’t sent any of our cars/suvs out... only the bikes

No doubt it's simply a volume thing. At some point you have enough vehicles that it's worth the overhead to maintain the staff, facilities, and training to do the work.

As many bikes agencies have, they still may not have enough to justify their own service centers. Even the CHP may have a net total to be high enough, but the way they're distributed through the state makes it less practical than just shopping it out.

Riddle me this.
We send everything to the dealer, but also have one or two in-house mechanics per area for basic stuff. It helps keep as many cars in service as possible.

What model are they going with? I'd assume the R1250R, which a fantastic bike. I got behind one on my S1000R on the Bohemian Highway, and that thing was hustling. I wasn't having too hard of a time keeping up, but for the size/style of the bike I was very impressed. The new 1250 motor pulls like a freight train.

Traditionally, BMW makes a factory LEO bike out of the RT.

So far the orders have been R1250RT-P & F850GS-P.

One thing that is nice is they have streamlined the different options for agencies to set the bikes up with.
