Clear Creek fatality 2/7/2021

Details are sketchy, dirt bikes collided near Clear Creek Rd/New Idria Rd. CALSTAR and CHP aircraft couldn't find anything at the reported location. New Idria Rd is closed just up from Panoche Rd due to 20x20 ' erosion hole- so fire and ground ambulance couldn't get up anywhere close.

Guaranteed to be inaccurate details, but it sounds like other riders started CPR and transported the victim to Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister- I presume they went out the Coalinga Rd side instead.

Probably be a day or three before we hear what happened. Godspeed rider and good job by the others giving it a good try.

Appreciate the update. Not the best source ("I heard..."), we'll see. I do KNOW that CHP and CALSTAR made flights to the call and reported no findings.

For sure people call in sometimes not knowing exactly where or what, just that they've seen something go down, throw in a lousy remote cell call breaking up and ugh. They have to put over the air the best they can, as soon as they can- not sit and wait for a better version of course.

Agreed, easy to blame the messenger.
Just too bad CHP didn't buzz the other entrance for good measure, although maybe they did. Given the 'normal' entrance was closed, caller may have messed up said the wrong roads because that is usually the side they would be on.

The west side of CC is in the King City CHP office's area- I don't think they usually have more than 3-4 folks working covering down to N of Paso. The south/east of CC is handled out of Coalinga CHP (who also cover all of Hwy 5 area) and I believe CHP Gilroy (whose coverage stops @Pinnacles on H25) came on down and drove out to Panoche Rd to Idria, went as far as they could and found nothing. They did meet with the victim's "people" at HHH later in the day. Still piecing it together Brian, no official press releases as yet.
