Christmas 2020 - decorations or Bah-Humbug?

2020
Sorry, but we all realize it's a sick year.
Regardless, we have got to rally on! (so to speak)

So thus...
For me there was a new truck in February, then C-19, then lockdown, twice.
Retirement, cabin fever and wife that loves holidays, especially Christmas (I built an 8x12 outside "seasonal" shed for decoration storage).
Over the years she (we) have inherited multiple fake trees. And many ornaments. And lights. She went on a Santa Candle holder streak for awhile.
This doesn't even include the outside lights, which thankfully I mostly kept in the storage shed. I have (more than) enough outside light strings to light up entire our cul-de-sac type street. The electric bill when I do that is absurd tho. So, I kept the outside rather minimal with house eve LED lights and candy cane front décor. (no pics)

Now for the Rally on part...

Anyway, I decided (remember the cabin fever part) to bring out as many of the inside decorations as our place could handle while my wife was at work. This ended up being 10 Christmas trees (of various sizes) and DID NOT include the largest one we have because it alone takes up a lot of living room space.

Here's a few pictures of some of the tree's and decorations...
The living room view...

The mantel...
Yeah, a few candlesticks on there.
(we have small stuffed reindeer that get moved to different hiding spots, we call them roving reindeer, of which one can be seen in this picture)

The table decorations...
(those tree's don't count)

The Grinch Tree... because, well, 2020

The Family Tree...
For a few different years, when we had family over for Christmas, we would have crafting. Specifically decorating your own blank glass ornament. This tree is for those ornaments. This tree is also one of two that stay up all year. It gets decorated with the "season de-joir" ornaments and lights. The other is the small "SF Giants" tree in the corner. Wife's a big fan.

The White Tree...

The Present Tree...
In the front window. This tree has many memorable ornaments. From Moto's to Kayak's to our Honeymoon in Hawaii decades ago.

And, of course, the (front) bathroom tree...

I didn't include the bedroom and back bathroom tree's in this initial post. Maybe later.

How about yours?
Got tree?

I went a little bah humbug on the exterior, but the wife made the mantles look nice, and wrapped gifts are always festive.

Nice... we are in the ba humbug realm.

Wife bought a fake tree from Amazon with lights on it.
Put it up. I put on the one ornament I received from Chill for Xmas.

That is it. Kid came home.. she thought it sucked. :laughing

I am not sure if she will push to pull out other stuff. We will see.
I kind of expect coming home from work on one day it will be livened up.

Looks crazy Christmas John! :thumbup

I've been all about the fake tree since my late 20s. The cutting down and dealing with a fresh tree was fun when I was a kid and I didn't really have to deal with it. :laughing

Here you go bah humbug

I saw that originally back in the early 90's I think during a car rallye.

It took me a moment to grok what this guy had against the California Lottery.

For us, we certainly dialed back. Nothing outside, but we put the pre-lit tree up, and scattered some decorations around the house. Fall was actually a bit more festive, honestly, save for the tree.

We're not doing much gift exchanging this year.

What's funny is a bunch of folks aren't doing Christmas cards this year, which is kind of odd -- you'd think they'd have time for it. We did.

How many freaking trees do you need? :laughing

I hate Christmas. Wife does the decorating and I helped the kiddo hang some lights on the front of the house.

:wow Christmas spirit is strong in your house!

We were bah humbug until this morning, I went out and bought a little potted spruce, that stands at whooping 4 feet tall, in the pot. We decorated it with the smallest ornaments we could find while listening to xmas music. And bonus, if I'm able to keep this tree alive, we'll have a mini tree next year too!

I have my Snoopy tree up, lights, and just because AB marketing added 4 holiday graphic Bud cans, , ,

I went red neck to celebrate

Got me a string of 'em, bouncing nicely in the breeze on 10# test.

Got that snowy look here too,
Thanks Bman

There's a guy in my neighborhood that has a few lights up on his small place, but the one piece of decor that gets me every year is a sign done up in lighted red/green that simply says

FART

I need to find the picture to really capture the seasonal subtlety of it.

No Humbug here...

We did our usual routine of putting up the outside lights on black Friday and inside decorations that same Sunday.

We did the tree together but then I got sent out of town so my better half had to finish the village and mantle.

It's the last Christmas in this house so we didn't want to pass it up.

I'm so glad all you Christians have kept the Pagan and Druid rituals alive.

For me it's just the love of Christmas lights and nostalgia. I have my late grandmas old school painted light sets that I love the look of. My mother gave me lots of hand painted items, including her village. Its a lot to put up for only a couple weeks but it makes me feel closer to my family when we are on different coasts.
