Chilling on a sailboat chill ride

Yesterday I hooked up with my brother L8Braker and his son GT again for a chill ride. The plan was not to bust the young mans butt again with 300 miles.

Our former Barf Racer AC had obtained a new to him HP4 that looks totally brand new.. holy moly it is a beautiful bike. I had sent him a couple pics from rides and he had reached out to see if I was planning on riding this weekend.

"Hell yes I am.. Saturday before it gets to hot. You going to bring the HP4?".

Well the answer was yes and when asked "What ya feel like doing?".
He suggested the Isle of 9 through to Santa Cruz and then chill on his sail boat in the SC Harbor.

That sounded kind of cool. The kind of chill ride that brought a little thrill and a lot of chill.

So we hooked up to pace the chill. Since we are still in SIP mode I knew from a previous run down the coast a lot of access was going to be closed off. Wonder what SC was like??

I gathered AC at his house and we met Danny and GT at the bottom of 9. Man were there a lot of moto bros and sisters out. A ton! :ride

We headed up the hill and and joined the masses of folks out for a beautiful Saturday. A little traffic up the hill turned into very little on the back side.

Like I said chill pace.. I waived some boys by and just enjoyed the flow.

Felt good to be in harmony with my two wheels. :teeth

When we got to the stop sign I passed Danny and GT to get a quicky thrill in and that part of 9 that always delivers a smile.

Towards the bottom of 9 there were tons of people out. Parked everywhere they could. The Park parking lot was noted as closed and full. A Sheriff was there watching. No soup for you I guess.

Hikers, mountain bikers (many large vans parked)... and who knows what else were everywhere. A lot of people enjoying being out of the house!

When we got to 1 we cruised down to take a jaunt along the shore (Map)
We rolled along the shore enjoying the scenic view. Again a lot of people out walking, on the water in boats, kayaks and paddle boards, but not a lot on the beach proper.

All parking was blocked and while I was willing to stop in front of the tape to park and grab a photo Danny rolled by them. We did stop at a little coffee place that had a few spaces available with most of the lot blocked off. We squeezed in.

I snapped a couple pics there and it was cool to see GT wearing a Nicky Hayden barf shirt. :thumbup

After chatting for a bit we headed towards the Harbor with a quick stop at Togo's to grab a sammich. Helmets provided face masks and we observed the now familiar stand here stickers on the floor. Food in hand we continued to the Harbor.

We parked and as we took off our helmets AC noted that it was private parking and he hoped Danny and I did not get tickets. AC had a sticker since he is essentially a tenant of the harbor.

I said "Dude we are all in one parking space we should be good".

Down to the boat.. a 28' sail boat mixed in with many more fishing style motor boats. The fisherfolks were coming in and cleaning at that point and there were some awesome fishing boats and pleasure craft to look at.

28' is big enough to social distance so we picked our spots.

After eating I took the chance to lay in the sun and get my full chill in effect.

It was really relaxing listening to the seagulls, watch the boats come in and out and the fisherfolks washing their boats and cleaning some fish too.

After an hour and a half we packed up and went back to the bikes.

Tickets!!!

Yup.. we got tagged. AC was pissed and tracked down a Ranger going by.. nope not the ticket dude. So we rode to the Harbor Masters office where he was successful at getting them to tear up two $49 tickets. A win for the moto dudes!

A quick down HWY 1 took us to San Jose Soquel Rd and another chill ride through some great scenery. Once to Summit Rd it was back to 17 with a quick stop to chat about the day and then on to 17 and slab home.

Fricking fun day.. a chill day on two. :thumbup

Darwin's exception
Bikes and boats, two of my favorite things. Great way to spend the day :thumbup

I can't wait to get back on either! Thanks for sharing the ride.

Cool.

I had no idea that AC had a sail boat.

Had no idea you dug them too. :thumbup

The Lagoon part of the harbor is pretty chill. Well sheltered.
Great place to dock a boat.

:thumbup Lagoon is an awesome spot for a boat.

I pretty much grew up on the water and boats... when we werent in the Mtns being stupid. I keep mine on the Marina Green in the city. Fantastic spot to stumble back to from the bars on Chestnut or Filmore...... :party

Always cool to see folks varied interests. There are a number of Barf sailors. During my "time out" after college I was a windsurfing instructor and skiing instructor. Those were some good years..... no money... but a lot of perks. :teeth

Ah, sailing. Even when it is crazy, it is chill. Even when it is chill, it is crazy. Those who sail, they know.

Big fun.
