catalytic converters on bikes

can't sleep so reading up on my bike. here's what kawi did on the '01 zx-6r - how about other bikes?

pre-converter (for cold start emissions only I assume) hidden in the exhaust pipe, main converter is in the muffler! no wonder it weighs like a ton. 49-state only have the pre-converter (49-state muffler possible stealthy mod for cali owners). additionally there is the sound resonator baffle which alot of people trim off, and some weird internal baffle plate in the main pipe.

going nuts waiting on my micron can and more not being able to ride. the pain, the pain :p literally.

is that the only thing the 6R has to pass CA emissions? the R6 has cams and a bunch of other stuff (cost a few hundred IIRC) to get it up to 49 state spec.

there's lots of other stuff too, air injection, evap vac lines, all the KLEEN stuff etc. I don't mind keeping most of it on :p

929 is the same way. Just compare a Cali and a 49 state. Look at the shape of the pipe just before the can. The Cali is not tapered whereas the 49 state is. The non-tapered section on the Cali is where the Cat is:finger
