Case cover requirements

Per the rulebook from the AFM website:

8.1 MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ALL MOTORCYCLES
8.1.1 Engines
i) After-market or AFM approved cases are required as shown In
Appendix A.

There is no Appendix A in the rulebook, and I am unable to find one anywhere on the AFM website.

Are we to assume that case covers are then not required?

2018 Rulebook doesn't have the Appendices at the end, don't know why.
2017 Rulebook has Appendix A lists what bikes should have side covers, see below. I don't think any of that will have changed for 2019.
If your bike is on the list I'd definitely get case guards on it. I've lowsided my R6 on each side, both of the case guards have damage to the slider. If those had been stock cases I would have oiled the track and ended my weekend for sure.

FWIW case cover(s) were required on a Triumph 675 during the 2018 season. It's safe to assume that the quote Nick posted from 2017 book is still enforced.

How about even if it's not required, you install case covers anyway so when you crash you don't ruin 150 other people's race weekend with your oil spill?

Some bikes don't need them, like 2nd gen sv. Engine is so far inside it is rare it touches down and stock covers are strong. Don't think anybody even makes them.

I was told @ Rnd-1 last year that Appendix-A was not used for 2018 Rulebook due to EVERY bike being required to have case guards. We were given pass for Rnd-1, but needed them as of Rnd-2
