Oooh! :love

My husband taught himself to ride on a little 100cc Yamaha enduro when he was 17, then he went out and bought himself a CBX. I’m glad he survived the experience.

Wife (walking in unexpectedly): "Are you looking at porn?"
Me (Staring closely at the screen): "Yes, are you wearing panties right now?"
Wife (looking over my shoulder): "Why do you lie to me?"
Me "I've never lied to you, dear. We just see things differently. Well, are you wearing any?"

Beautiful. Who did the rebuild? I may have some old Suzuki carbs that need some love.

Mad

Carbs were done by Old School Carbs in San Jose. Great work buy he was way backed up, it took around 10 months. He may not be taking new jobs for a while due to one of their shops being destroyed in the Paradise fire.

Another great option is Mike Nixon in Arizona, https://www.motorcycleproject.com/ In addition to his carb rebuilding service his site contains a wealth of great information.

Ha! Just doing minor work - brake system rebuild, tires, carbs. This CBX was the first one sold by the shop where I worked in 1979. My fellow mechanic bought it and cared for it all these years until he parked it due to health problems. Another friend bought it last year. It's a low miles cream puff, CBseXy pictures to follow when it's roadworthy.

that is a cool history! i look forward to it. i had a "hotwheels" cbx as a kid. no idea what it was back then but knew that 6 exhaust pipes was awesome. still have the model but somewhere along the line the front end has gone missing

friend of mine years ago had a silver CBX with a six into two Kerker system on it. That bike sounded so awesome!

Rolls with it...
I had a friend in the early 80’s that put a CBX motor in Harris frame (cool) and then tried to turbo it (notso cool), it kept grenading the motor.

Slightly off topic (sorry) but the Kerker name brings me back.
I had a 1978 KZ650 for a while. I was trying to put it back to stock and was looking for the stock exhaust. The guy at the counter at G&B Kawasaki said "Keep the Kerker on it. For that bike that pretty much was the stock exhaust."

I hope the end result has 6 into 6 exhaust!

I was present, back the day
I remember the various CBX models (& race bikes, too)
I remember those 6-into-6 pipes, which usually sounded even better -
what I don’t remember, across decades, is seeing/hearing very many of em.....

Can’t tell from the picture but it looks like it has the sport control kit that Honda sold for those and the 750/900F series. Really liked them set up like that. Stock exhaust sounded pretty damn good in my opinion. It’s said the engineers went to a local AF base and recorded Phantoms to try for something like that sound. That one you’re working on looks super clean!
