Broken ankle - Turn 8 Thill East - Highside

cant support myself just yet, i used the pallet scale at work today, i was able to put over 50lbs of force down on the broken ankle/foot

i was so surprised i kinda stumbled and had to catch myself lol

i dunno bout my healing, the very 1st doc @ chico told me I should be walking in 3 weeks - that my break was super simple 1 screw and boom on to full healing.....

Actual doc in san rafael who did my surgery, said the xrays didnt pickup all the damage and I actually fractured 3 different sides of the ankle and hence 3 various screws inserted, along with 2 toes that were just gonna be left in the cast to heal.

Its getting better day by day, I had to reschedule my PT this week cuz i got to excited and didnt realize i scheduled the PT without asking my gf lol first.

I kinda just wish my foot is not swollen and i have feeling in my big toe and 2nd toe.... but its getting less tingly day by day

Thanks again barf for providing these types of threads, just positive vibes all around! :thumbup

no offense but i don't know if chico is not that great of a hospital or they just don't care as much.

It might just be the difference between ER and Orthopedic depts. A doctor going in for surgery will look more closely than the doctor just putting you back together immediately after injury.

Glad things are going well, and Jaybocc2 I hope you're improving too.

That is correct. ER is for triage and stabilize, they don't care about much else unless its life threatening.

Even in nebraska when i broke my knee, the initially said they were just going to sew my knee back up, but the orthopedic surgeon informed me after i woke up that i had indeed broken my knee and i received some new hardware.

Thanks 1962siia, i'm improving, things are healing, just started PT, this round is gonna be 9 weeks.

I've yet to have a good experience in an ER. If it's been nice at the time, I find out afterwards just how badly they fucked up.

Like sending me home with a pilon fracture. My ortho was PISSED I had been sent home when I went into his office on Monday, but too late by then. Only good thing is that I ended up with an awesome orthopedist and I'm kinda glad the ortho who looked at the x-rays up there (and sent me home) didn't end up doing the re-assembly...

Anyhoo, take things easy, and follow your doctor's advice about weight bearing. Ankle joints are no fun, but hopefully yours won't be too bad since it's the foot part not the tibia part!

Actually my surgeon in san rafael commented that he did miss the fractures in the xrays he took - and that he was only expecting 1 screw as well until they opened the ankle up, also initially i am supposed to be 100% by like first week of 2018, thats like hoping my foot is not swollen and i can hit PT real hard for 1 month.... which i dont think its happening, doc already said next visit we will be talking about that date.

My doc also emailed me back at 11pm when i asked about the numbness in my 1st and 2nd toes, he stated that is where the larger incision for the larger screw was inserted and more operated on, so everything is still normal/expected for longer healing on those 2. But he did add in worst case scenario that I may not have complete feeling back : |

Yea so i have been pushing a lil too hard the past 2 weeks,

multiple days I could not exercise in the AM due to overworking it the night before.

Oh well my range up and down is almost 100% there i think like 5-10mm more movement left, but left and right is still very difficult for me. I am only at 10mm left and 5mm right and its quite tiiiight - hopefully the resistance training im moving into will help it stretch out.
