More BLM RAC openings announced; AMA members encouraged to apply

Six RACs related to BLM National Conservation lands announce openings

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has announced openings on six Resource Advisory Councils affiliated with specific sites on the BLM National Conservation Lands and for the North Slope Science Initiative Science Technical Advisory Panel. The RACs are in Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington and Utah.

The AMA encourages its members to be involved in BLM RACs to ensure motorized interests are being heard. One of the three member categories that make up all RACs includes representatives of developed outdoor recreation, off-highway vehicle users, or commercial recreation activities. AMA members can also qualify for other committee positions based on expertise in other areas, further ensuring motorized interests are represented.

Interested parties can nominate themselves or others, but all applicants must be residents of the area covered by the RAC. A complete description of BLM Resource Advisory Councils, including members' roles and responsibilities and generic application materials, are available online here. Some RACs listed below require unique applications and should be contacted directly.

Application deadline is June 14.

For more information, contact Carrie Richardson in the BLM Office of Communications in Washington, D.C., at (202) 501-2634 or crichardson@blm.gov.

Now more than ever, it is crucial that you and your riding friends become members of the AMA to help protect our riding freedoms. More members mean more clout against the opponents of motorcycling. That support will help fight for your rights - on the road, trail and racetrack and in the halls of government.

Join the AMA at americanmotorcyclist.com.

If you are an AMA member, encourage your friends to join by telling them about the many AMA benefits you appreciate and the role the AMA plays in promoting the motorcycle lifestyle and protecting the future of motorcycling.
