alright so I just got my jacket in the mail today. It retails for $325 or so but it's out of date so I got it for a super deal. It's a Shift jacket and I wanted one since I tried one on at the store.

I was always an astars fan and I have astars textile jacket which everyone compliments but I need leather for my commute and protection. My alpinestars started falling apart for no reason(logo fell off, etc).

Well I saw this one and it was the last one. I must say it is VERY comfortable, even though its brand new. it has zippers for the pants, and looks friggin nice. comes with inner removeable vest and of course armor. Better than any alpinestar jacket I have ever tried on, and doesnt feel bulky or hot, or as heavy as many other leathers.

I was going to use this jacket as my beater leather and get a joerocket honda cbr leather or high end dainese or astars but I think this will be my main jacket now, the quality is top notch. too bad the shippers jammed it into a small ass box no there are zipper marks on some parts but oh well. so here's pics

How can you tell it's the "best money ever spent" until you've tested it?

Agreed but c'mon Jim- if the guy was wearing a tshirt and now he's got a 1/2 decent jacket it's gotta be money well spent. Shift stuff, I think, is better than the cheap agv stuff so it's probably a good move for him.

I get your point, no doubt. At the same time, it's frustrating to hear someone claim (not that the OP did) that Item X is the best thing since sliced bread when their experience is one loaf of Wonder.

Not directed at the OP, just a pet peeve. I'm more of a function over form guy.

cheers,

-jim

Roger that, point well taken.

At the risk of invoking license2ill, is it time for a standardized gear rating system in the U.S.?

Well next to the custom leathers that don't fit me anymore, I'd say the best money I ever spent was on a Core Cooler. Tested it out during the GP last year and stayed nice and cool all three days. Okay, not nice and cool, but tolerable! :laughing
