Berkeley/East bay roads

Living in Berkeley and working from home, I still get out for a shortish joy ride almost every day. I have some usual routes (always starting at grizzly peak since it's close to my house) I thought I'd share and see if anyone has any other cool routes they like to take:

1) Grizzly, wildcat canyon, bear creek road, san pablo dam road, 24 back to grizzly.

2) Grizzly, panoramic, pinehurst, redwood road, 13, tunnel road back to grizzly.

Sometimes I switch it up with Happy Valley (off of bear creek) back to the 24.

Any of you other east-bayers care to share your joy ride routes? I promise to wave if I see you!

From Wildcat Canyon, you can take Bear Creek out to Alhambra Valley to Pinole Valley, then 4 out to Port Costa and some of the back roads between there, Crockett, and Martinez. Further south, you've got Palomares too which you can catch by taking Redwood into Castro Valley, left on CV Blvd, right on Palo Verde, right on Palomares

Next time you're in LaFayette, try Dearhill Rd. to Pleasant Hill Rd. to Reliez Valley Rd, to Alhambra Valley, to Bear Creek Rd.

A longer ride is the back roads from Pinehurst to Mt. Diablo. [You can always take Moraga Way from Orinda.] I usually turn around when I get to the south gate on Mt. Diablo, then double back. The road up there has a hell of a view: https://goo.gl/maps/EM7hRsjTKrp2REgR7

I appreciate all the replies.

Hate to be a party pooper, but I've already :ride on all those roads and they're a little too far for a <1hr lunchtime ride. I was hoping to hear about closer (to me) hidden gems. Like Scott's list of dead-enders on that other thread.

On the other hand, living right off of grizzly I can't really complain.

If you see someone with long red hair flying in the wind acting goofy on a white moto -- wave back!

I like to mix up my rides: twisties (North Pinehurst) and sweepers (Bear Creek Rd), with some slab to make some distance over time.

And toss some laps on a nice cloverleaf :ride like Happy Valley/24.

And hilly, scenic neighborhoods along the way (Charles Hill/Sleepy Hollow in Orinda, Berkeley/Oakland Hills).

It's cool to have short routes nearby to get a quick ride in between Zoom calls, or extend that ride to the hardware store. :thumbup Open the throttle, clear your head!

Any road is like a completely new road, if you turn around and ride it in the Opposite Direction.
It's really economical, too, saving all the other roads for later.

This guy....Like I haven't done that?? :afm199

Re heavy traffic -- I haven't split (or sat) in bumper-to-bumper traffic since the lockdown started. Is that still a thing? Or do I need to get out more?

Some people don't realize that there's Twice as many roads that they think there are.
