Barf yellow pages.

:wtf

Yeah. In an effort to appease the tax Code barf needs to earn a bit more money.

At the same time I don't want to add a lot of the regular advertising stuff that clutters what I think is pristine vision of barf. Keeping the visual clutter down to a minimum is a priority.

So I came up with something different. A place where barfers who provide services can list their business without engaging in a full sponsorship deal. $25 for a year from when you sign up.

For years I have seen and also reached out myself for a barfer to do this or that. A plumber, a car detailer, electrical contractor, builder, restaurant or whatever. Sort of an Angie's list for barf. :laughing

You won't be able to post in the listing. People will have to reach out to you like a phone book. Email, PM, web or by phone.

Info here

All regular long term sponsors are listed at NC and I will begin reaching out to those folks today.

A lot of what happens on barf as far as race sponsorships and events just come out of pocket as we don't earn enough to deduct them. I would like to do that so I can expand our reach and charitable efforts.

Give it a thought. Questions welcomed.

Thank

That's nice. I'll need to make it a habit to visit that sub forum. I could use a massage with a happy ending ... BARF style. :)

All kidding aside, it is a great idea.

Great idea Budman!

Have you guys considered upgrading vB? Or migrating to something maybe a bit more modern? :) I guess people are used to it, it's hard to change.

Please please upgrade. I know you were talking about it. What can we do to make it happen?

Something like this might be good to add to vB: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=255319

It is in process... which reminds me I have a bill to pay for it.

We are in process of duplicating the entire server onto another set to try to make sure when we copy things over we don't lose stuff. PIA, but there is so much history here I DO NOT want to risk losing anything.

Excellent idea, Mr Budman, Sir

I am in, look for an email from me early next week with details

Also, I think your fee is right in the sweet spot ... not too expensive, but not selling the service too cheaply, either

BARF Yellow pages or Yellow BARF pages, either way it sounds like pretty good idea.

Are you planning on having sub forums/threads based on area of expertise or service like Home Repairs, Auto/Moto repair, Landscaping or just keep keep it a single thread we can search?

I've had VERY bad experiences with 2 of the businesses in the yellow pages. are we allowed to share our opinions with the BARF or is it frowned upon?

We will likely create sub forums once we get enough.

Rowan you can of course. This thread is not the place though.
Isn't yelp the deal for complaints?? I have not see a complaint section in the book at my office.

Yellow pages threads need comments below

They seem so empty

Maybe have it setup so every comment requires approval and only those that actually used the service can comment. This would weed out unnecessary comments and would increase the validity of the business

It takes some effort on the admins part but it brings value to the business

We discussed this. The real yellow pages don't have comments.
There is yelp for that right? Reviews and recommendations too. If a yellow pages advertiser wanted to add a link to one of those or two I would do that if they send the link.

For 25 dollars a year we are already making 12 cents an hour to just deal with it. :p
And some make none. (Thanks T).
