It’s also a real dude magnet. I’ve only ever had a few people correctly ID it. Most guys will be like “my mom had one when I was a kid” or something and my answer is always “probably not like this one”

I know exactly what this car is and yes, i would ask you a bunch of questions at a car meet if it were there. you dropped a v8 in it,so I'd assume you're not in CA? nice Capri, dont ever sell it....

Good for you Billy.

I cannot say what it is from just the side shot.
I think my Mom's sister had one though :p

It took some creative body work to get the 76 styling on the 74 frame but as it’s officially a 74 there’s no need for smog. No point in doing a post-75 project car in my book. I mean, there’s plenty of point in doing it, it’s just that CA hates cool stuff and wants to punish those who don’t.

I can’t sell this thing. My dad bought it new and got the conversion kit from an outfit in Fremont. He bombed around in it for a while then sold it. Ran into the guy who bought it 2 years later and apparently he grenaded the engine shortly after taking it so it just sat on his property. Long story short my dad got it back and she is back to her old glory and then some. So I can’t ever sell it. If anything it’ll go back to my dad and he can do whatever he wants with it.

It blows my mind and really helps the intergenerational theft of inflation be revealed to think about how a 20 year old working at a grocery store could buy a brand new car AND do a new engine swap requiring a bunch of modifications to the car itself.

awesome, a cool car with a story,my favorite. I'd love to move to non-smog state and drop a v8 into every single car I own....:laughing:laughing

a little gimpy
I think i have some $$ coming up to replace my slipping powerglide transmission.

Seriously considering swapping in a manual with a hydraulic clutch. What's holding me back is a surgically-jacked up left hip-flexor. I've had to change my clutching technique to mostly ankle/calf motion instead of whole-leg motion.

my other options are Th350 (cheapest and easiest), 700R4 (overdrive) or LS swap with 4L60E overdrive. This cruck would only see short freeway trips, so I don't REALLY need overdrive. I have a 3:08 rearend

there's also the th200-r4, whcih is kinda like a light-ish duty th350 with an overdrive. there is plenty of aftermarket support for them. a friend put a properly built one behind a healthy chevy 350 in his nova. it moved down the road just fine :burnout

I am now considering the new tremec tkx 5-speed. it's a different case design (instead of tko-500 or tko-600) that should fit without any tunnel mods. makes the swap just a bit easier. Muncie bolt pattern. gotta pre-order it tho. i wonder how long the lead tume will be
