I've wanted to do this for years. Always failed, which is bad, but you know what's worse than failing even? Not trying. Which I did. Year after year after year.
I wish I could say I made a promise to myself that this year I would get it done. And that I stood up like a man, made good on my promise and got it done. But I forgot to make the promise in the first place which kind of blew my feel-good opportunity.
I made a film, for you, about racing, and racers, and people who make it happen - specifically in the AFM, but generally anywhere. We're all the same after all. As different as we are.
Relax it's only ten minutes long so if you hate it, eat the salad. But I bet you won't hate it. In fact I think you might enjoy it. Some pretty cool people are in it. In fact that's all that's in it. People. My favorite part of racing. ...and I got to feed a newborn calf while filming it. That's a win right there.
I saved money for weeks some years ago, to do the Race of Champions at Daytona. I built my ZX7R just right, I painted it perfect, I took off work, loaded my crap and drove all day and night. I crashed in the International Horseshoe on my outlap for practice 1, hurt my wrist and broke the weekend in two. For those of you who have not raced Daytona, the International Horseshoe (on your outlap) is basically turn 1.
So, two weeks of work for 9.2 seconds of Daytona.
Here is to hoping that these last two weeks yield more than those did.
See you there,
