I use both Sketchup and Fusion 360. Each has their own unique pros and cons and it all depends on what you want to use it for. For straight up parts design, I use Fusion. I use Sketchup at work for data center design. I'm about to learn Revit for this, but for now, Sketchup is what I've got. I found Fusion much easier to learn than Sketchup and it's a bit more intuitive.

I dunno if I'm new to this or not but www.yeggi.com is a neat search engine for finding models. It's faster and easier than using thingiverse and it searches other sites too.
