2021 F1 thread

Teams only got 2 dev tokens for all the frozen parts, so there won't be many visible changes. But I won't be surprised if the running order changes a lot, behind Merc of course.

The McLaren probably has most challenges. Changing an engine is no small feat, as it affects everything behind the driver which affects everything in front of the driver. They may have more power, but the car could be wildly unbalanced early in the year.

I think Grosjean is expected to be Indy testing on Monday at Laguna Seca.

Anyone surprised? :laughing

Grosjean was in action for the first time in a testing session at Barber Motorsports Park ahead of the season-opener there on April 18.

And now part of the IndyCar grid, he wants to be a good team-mate to Jones and hopefully build up a positive relationship off the track, rather than be an “a**hole” as he admitted to being at times in his Formula 1 career.

“I told him I used to be an asshole as a team-mate,” said Grosjean, quoted by Motorsport-Total.com, as he described the way he introduced himself to Jones.

“But now I’m 35 and I want to be friendly. We have a good relationship. On the track you want to beat him, there’s no question about that. But if we could be friends off the track, that would be mega.”

He saw the light AND felt the heat in that crash... :laughing

I believe I read he will not be doing any of the ovals.

March 19th, look for for the third season of Netflix series "Drive to Survive.'

The first two seasons were very very good.

I don't blame him, the burns on left hand are still healing....

He also said that may change as he becomes more acclimated to the cars.

Yeah I don't blame him one bit. However the differentiation between racing a rocket onroad versus a rocket in an oval seemed a little weird to me. I guess the spectre of oval racing and other cars messing up your aero struck a chord with him where he noped the hell out of that.

That show is what got me into F1. Watched the first season, bought tickets to COTA and went. Been a junkie ever since.

I hiked a trail this morning that runs along Jim Moore Blvd up to the water tanks above Seaside... I could hear the Indy cars testing at Laguna.

Same. I had watched a race here, or there. But that show made me fully commit, plus found a few co-workers bigly in to it. Now I watch that as much as MotoGP.

I'm sitting here trying to remember all the different networks that have carried F1 since I started watchin in the late 70's... :laughing

I’ve been pretty happy with last year’s coverage. No commercial breaks (to speak of) and no Leigh Diffey!

Looking forward to this year.
