the seat looks different from pictures I see online: black, two-piece vs yellow one-piece.

No... he purchased it as such.

I sure hope so. Planning to take him for a few days into Mojave and DVNP after tax season.

Yes, he bought the version. With the lower seat height. Definitely what he needed since he is new to ADV bikes and is 5'8". His other bike was the 2019 Yamaha Tracer.

He wanted to do the ADV thing.

So, I talked my brother into taking a RawHyde ADV riders course. Immediately after he will join me on a3 day trip through DVNP and Mojave....

I'd feel terrible if he drops it without training. But if he drops it during training, he'll be cool with it. He has already been warned.
