I know it isn't the Bay Area, but who knows where they will end up.

My dad had his Harley and his Africa Twin stolen on Tuesday night.
Africa Twin plate - 23V3854
Harley plate- 21H8177

Dang, they broke into that garage? And your parents were away? Someone's been watching the place?

It was near D street and Elvas, I think it is East Sac?

They were in his locked garage. He just bought the house and was in the process of moving and was away for a couple days. They stole all of his tools too.

The neighbors saw it all and didn't think to call the police as someone rode the Honda away at 3am with no helmet, then came back the next day in a black hoodie pulled up on a 100* day and ride the Harley away...

He is moving from a very safe and secluded area, I guess he learned the hard way that Sacramento is neither of those.

I suppose the only positive thing is the neighbor's camera caught the scum's very distinctive car on video. You can believe we will be keeping an eye out for it.

Unfortunately this is the best I can do from the neighbor’s camera.

Man crime/theft is just rampant now. Time to just head for the hills. I'm worried about my bikes in the garage now.

Hope you're able to recover them :( sucks today is father's day too.

The Harley was found today off the side of an embankment of the American River, right between the Sheriff's office and a CHP office. My Dad is in Germany for work for the next month, so he had the officer contact me to pick it up.

Well, it took me longer to get to Sac than it did for a tow truck to show up, so now we have to deal with getting a notarized letter from Germany to the tow yard so I can pick it up- even though the officer had the tow company fill out the paperwork with me as the person to release it to. They get you coming and going. I got to the tow yard before the truck did, so I got to see it go in. It looked to be in pretty good shape!

Hopefully the Honda shows up at some point.

Wow, you’re lucky they found one bike. Did he have insurance? Is he going to buy it back from the insurance company?

Nice surprise.

That hassle to release it sucks but still a win.
Did insurance pay it off already??

He can file a claim with his home owner's insurance for both bikes (tools too) if he didn't have theft moto coverage.

He only had liability coverage on them, so it is definitely a win to find it in decent shape.
I’m pretty sure the homeowners insurance told him something along the lines of, sorry they can only be covered by a separate policy. I can’t remember exactly what they said, but the bikes were not covered.

Yeah, for some reason many homeowners insurance and renters insurance will not cover theft of motorcycles, even when they were stolen out of the garage. They don't care if they were locked either. Thieves, both the people that took the bikes and the insurance companies in my opinion

Ask the tow yard if they will accept a docusigned release. If they will, get the required form so we can use my docusign account to get it done via e mail.
