Since City Bike said they were available.. I guess I better make them available.. **(Small quick loading versions down a few posts)**

These vid's were part of my presentation to the OTS.. you will see a practice speech in there that I did live.. wearing a suit no less :teeth You can catch a mistake or two.. but what the heck it was practice. My apologies to the Office of Traffic Safety for blowing their name in the practice speech here :facepalm

The presentation was made as part of a Motorcycle Safety Summit that took place over 4 days in April up in the City. I had a great time both putting this together and also discussing our safety effort..

Joe from 4the Riders gave me some on board footage and lots of stuff was pulled off barf. Some sad stuff.. some happy. As Silversvs said he and I are working with the OTS/ CHP and other state agencies to provide possible vision into how we can reduce fatalities and accidents. A good discussion on that is going on here:

Your imput is welcomed, wanted and needed. We are the folks that are out there and our lives are some of whom may be affected by the effort. Personally I have found the folks on the committee to be very vigilant about it.. in particular I really did not know how much the CHP really cares about our safety. I am very proud to be a part of the effort and proud that barf was regognized as a valuable part of the real world imput. As Silversvs said.. we are the man on the street. He is the man and such a valuable part of the things that have been done in Livermore and beyond in the name of Moto Safety and Awareness. People like him that have a passion for two wheels can make a difference with some effort. Just like the 1Rider volunteers that sat on street corners this year their value is hard to quantify, but there effort for us is huge.

I am not a movie maker.. but I did give it my best.. considering the alternate was making a speech in front of over 100 concerned parties..this seemed like the easy way to get my point across and eliminate the mistakes... :p

One more thought about being a rider.. a barf member and friend to many.
The pain of their loss will endure in many of us.

Get over yerself!!!
Great job Budman,

I watched most of the first .mov, but it took forever to download. (I went and tortured my cats while I was waiting. :laughing Hey, they torture me.)
Is there anyway it can be "compressed" or something? I've down loaded a few videos in my day, and this one was the slowest one ever.
Other than that, it was great when I finally got it.

Thanks,

Just saw the first one, and noticed that the music was way loud in comparison to your voice at the end.

And are you not uploading it to something like youtube since this is just a practice?
If you feel like reencoding it, try wmv, they are pretty damn compressed and end up being fairly small files.

Also, I'm willing to donate my time to help with some video editing if you want, I'm sure there are others who may be more qualified too :party

----

Just watched the second video, and was going to comment that its not good to show a rider blowing a stop sign, then it was all clear!
Good choice.

----

My final comment on the third video is that the red text on a blue background is a bit hard to read. Maybe darken the blue, and use a color that isn't so hard on the eyes in contrast like a rich orange?

All minor things, overall, I applaud you for your efforts. :thumbup

This is already a done deal.. the vid was shown in April.. but thanks for the offer.:thumbup

The only practice part was my little speech at the beginning as I did that part live at the Summit. I had fun doing it and found that it ended up taking about 10 hours per minute.. all the threads taken off barf had to be reformatted and uploaded.. and cropped and damn.. it took quite a while :wow

Of course I had a script.. that was way to long.. and did not fit the vid so I had to adjust on the fly.. a lot of hours with the headset on re-doing the spoken words to the video and still get the right point across.

Ahh gotcha. Didn't read that it the vid was already shown :)
Jumped to the assumption that you'd be showing it at one of your up and coming meetings.

And 10 hours per minute sounds about right. Maybe you should start doing action flicks? :teeth

yeap...
I re-encoded the .mov file into windows media (.wmv) using the presets I use at work...
it's the same resolution (960x540) and the file size is about 37 megs...

I can do the other 2 videos if you'd like :)

Assuming you have a windows computer, just find windows movie maker, it comes with windows.

If you have xp, should be under the programs folder, maybe in accessories if not in the root of the programs folder.
If you have vista/7, just type movie maker into the start menu search.

Then when you open up media player, drag and drop the files into the workspace, and you can even combine them into one file if you want, using the filmstrip.
Then its just a matter of encoding, and leave it as a wmv filetype (avi would be of similar large size, if my memory serves me correctly).

Alternatively, you can try to upload it to youtube, and let their servers take the bulk of the work.. but I haven't done any youtube uploading in a while :rolleyes
