    Guerneville Dual-sporting?

Is there anything legal, or is maps going to lead me astray as is frequently the case in Northern California... I'll be staying at a friends place in Guerneville this weekend and my DRZ's gas is getting stale so I'm thinking of riding it up there and back to give it some exercise. Looks like...

Can SMFTA Officers ticket vehicles in private lots?

If this is out of scope for this forum please let me know, that said I'm wondering if the SMFTA can issue parking citations in private lots. Say for example, a vehicle parked in a private garage? I have a friend who lives in a multi-unit building in San Francisco who told me that a neighbor...

    SIP V2 Coming soon!

I suspect the only reason they're not doing it now is to give business a chance to make some $$$ during the holiday season as I'm sure being shutdown now would be a deathblow to many - https://www.ktvu.com/news/gov-newsom-orders-coronavirus-crackdown-linked-to-icu-capacity Seems like about two...

Knoxville Devilhead Rd as part of the ADV / DS ride?

Looking to add this on to the stickied ADV/DS ride. We'll be on proper dual sports (DRZ and WR) and it looks like this'll add on a little extra fun. Is this an awesome idea or a terrible idea? Neither of us are hard enduro level riders, we're more like blue trails at Carnegie level riders. Just...

Route suggestions for an out and back to 49

Planning an overnighter to hit 49 and anything good around there while I'm nearby. We might camp, we might just find a cheap motel, we might stay in Virgnia City / Reno, tbd. I've got some tentative ideas but figure folks on here might have better ideas. Fall colors would be a plus, not scared...

Suggestions for an ADV / Dual Sport ride avoiding the fires?

I'd love to get out for a day this long weekend and had been considering the stickied Berryessa/Knoxville/Rayhouse ride, but that appears to be very much on fire. I'm also aware of some fun roads near Big Sur, but, I suspect fire is a problem there as well. thinking I'm outta luck but curious if...

Rode bike with a loose ground, what'd I fry?

This is mostly a how screwed am I sort of post as I'll assess things tomorrow. Riding home from getting new shoes yesterday and the the bike threw a code and went into limp mode on 280. I pulled off, shut it off and back on and it started fine. Ok, whatever it's a Ducati, probably a sensor...

Still a noob after all these years

I'm back. Joined like 9 years ago or so, and posted a bit but mostly lurked. Been lurking mostly ever since. Finally remembered which email I used to join here and recovered my password so let's see how that goes.

Guess someone was tired of the rain

Because I came out this morning to find my bike without it's cover. Between this, having it knocked over, and parking tickets, the 50 a month spot 4 block from my apartment is looking pretty tempting. Somewhere there had better be a toasty dry homeless person. -- Nathan

Bike knocked over - kickstand side - what to look for?

It seems ok, but I'm sure something got f-ed up. My bike got knocked over this week, already bitched in general, now I need to fix things. It went down on the kickstand side which I think means it went down hard. Visible damage: -- Bent clutch lever (will replace) -- handlebar likely bent needs...

    Got what I deserved

Been parking my bike on the street since I bought it, went to move it for street sweeping tonight and found it had been tipped over. At least someone righted it. No major damage, small dent in the tank, bent brake lever and the bar end mirror tweaked the end of the bar. Other than that I didn't...

Knocked over Late Model Ninja Fell and Buchanan

Came home tonight and saw your red Ninjja (600 I think) parked on Fell and Bucanan lying on it's side. I couldn't leave it like that so I set it back up right. Damage seemed minor, broken turn indicator. Hope that is all. -- Nathan

The driving test needs to be harder

Or we need to cull the idiots.... Muni shutdown after an SUV driver drives into the Duboce portal muni tunnel and gets stuck a half mile later. http://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/2012/01/muni_paul_rose.php -- Nathan btw, I searched, so I hope this is not a repost.

Holding on to an old bike

Is not a rational decision. I have an old ratted out '96 CBR F3 that has been collecting dust since I picked up my 599. Today, after leaving it sitting with a empty tank (no drained mind you) I put the battery back in, gave it a couple gallons of gas and after a couple tries it was running. It's...

    Rapid tire wear causes?

So I rode down to work yesterday to check on my car (lucky enough to be able to store it there). I too, 280 cuz its nicer. As I was poking around the car my gaze turned to my bike, as I it often does. I noticed the rear looked weird. A closer look revealed little bits of rubber stuck to the tire...

    SF honda parts stores

Looking to put some new bars on my bike today but I realize I need grip glue and maybe a new set of grips. Is Golden Gate cycles my only option on a Saturday? -- Nathan Edit: never mind dumb questions solved by the google... looks like I can't delete this so if a mod sees this please help me...

Guess I'll be riding the moto more

Cycling to meet some people for a ride to work this morning and got run down by one of those recycling scavenger trucks, apparently the brakes on it weren't working. Guys spoke next to no english and bailed before the cops could arrive. All I got was a plate, I kind of doubt they had insurance...

Cost to set up a shock?

I have a line on an Ohlins shock for my bike, however it's setup for a 160lb rider and I'm around 200. I can't seem to find much information online, but it sounds like I'd at least need a heavier spring, and probably need to have it re-valved. Anyone have a take on what that would cost? Not sure...

    I'm back

Joined this forum a while ago when I moved here but I hadn't been riding much as my bike was a bit ratty. Recently picked up a 2006 Honda 599, so I'm now confident enough in my ride for longer distances. So here I am.
