I was shocked to find this in the newspaper today.

Dennis Anderson long time moto man has passed away.

Dennis went to Paly High and he and his twin brother were friends.
Dennis remained a friend and was an AFM racer when I was as were several other Palo Alto guys.. something in the water made a lot of young men go racing it seemed.

I ran into him at a few moto stores over the years as he was in sales.. I am sure many folks here knew him.

Dennis was active on barf in the early years and did a lot of moto photography too.

We always greeted each other the same way.. whomever got the "hello Dennis" out first got greeted as "Hello other Dennis" with a chuckle from both of us.

Godspeed Dennis :rose

Condolences to his family and friends.

get it while it's easy
everyone gets a little magic in their lives if they watch and listen carefully for it. and some people you meet along the way are like fireflies - a magical spark of light in an otherwise dreary world.

"I set out running, but I take my time, a friend of the devil is a friend of mine. If I get home before daylight, just might get some sleep tonight."

rest in peace dennis. moto man. other dennis. you sound like a cool dude. my deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved you. especially domino, who can't begin to understand your absence.

:rip Other Dennis!

Many of us knew him from his years in moto sales in the local bike dealerships.
I first met him many years ago, can't even remember at which shop... he was always kind, friendly, funny, witty, and a lot of fun to be around.
I looked forward to seeing him at the bike show next month. Dang.

Deepest condolences to all family and friends.

Not Erudite, just er
yeah these personal stories really resonate. there are people who had a strong effect on me that others might not have ever known. so to hear about someone like this who was important in another rider's life you have to pause. even if you didn't' know him directly. RIP.

This. Yet another thread has been pulled from the fabric of our community.

Bumped into him walking down the street in Mountain View a couple years ago, at the time he was all crazy excited about supermoto stuff.

R.I.P. sir.

I want to share a Dennis racing story. First thanks for some nice words about both the man and the Moto community.

1989 Dennis and I were both going at it at Sears. We were both on Gixxer 750's. I was a big dude and the other Dennis was the smaller dude. We were fighting for 5th in the Suzuki cup 750 production. That meant there was 100 bucks on the line.

Dennis was really working the brakes and the bike was moving around like crazy going into T11 at Sears.. the old turn 11 where there was just about 4 rows of tires before the concrete wall. The width of the asphalt was the run off.

Dennis's bike was squirming hard under heavy braking and I was actually a bit worried on getting by because it looked like a massive high side could happen at any second. Lap after lap I would make the charge only to by stopped by this small man viciously weaving under the brakes.. :wow

Finally I made the move and just as I did it finally happened... he was just ahead me as I was on the inside. The other Dennis was air born and headed to the tires. I saw him fly by while turning backwards, but head still vertical. I could have sworn he landed in the tires like sitting on a toilet, except with an air born elegance I anticipated would have a big impact.

I went oh damn oh damn... I was worried about my bud. I spent a lot of the next lap wondering if the red flag was going to come out... wondering what I would find when I came back around....

Well I found the other Dennis.. sitting in the tires.. waving to me with both arms and yes.. he looked just like he was sitting on a 42" high toilet. You could tell he had a smile on his face.

He was AOK. I will never forget that.. you tend to remember when people are flying by you at speed. This time it was all good and we had one hell of a conversation afterwards.... and yes.. he landed perfectly and felt he deserved a solid 10 on the dismount. :laughing

I too had not seen him in a few years and now I am really sad that I did not get too.

Like the article said Dennis was a 1/2 full glass kind of guy.

^^^ Great story, Other Dennis! He sounds like he was an amazing man... our Moto World has become a little bit smaller... I'm so sorry for your loss, and deepest condolences to his family... :rose

I was looking through Dennis's profile at old threads... and realized that it was he that suggested barf have a party at Honda of Milpitas. The first barf bash.

He was really active on the board back in 05 06.
Here was a 50% off sales thread right after the bash and you can feel Dennis's spirit and lust for life.

lots of old school barfers in the thread.

Oh man I remember Dman, he was pretty active in BARF socials back in the day. Matter of fact he sold me my first set of leathers from Honda of Milpitas for like half off.

Fucking cancer claims another one.

RIP Dennis :rose
