Been riding dirt bikes since I was 6. Rode my first street bike when I was 15. Got my street license at 16. 9 bikes later I am 20 and still tearing up both the dirt and the street :)

Bonanza mini bikes count, right?

Back in the day, the way it worked was you got your learner's permit when you were 15 1/2, which was good for a moto, daytime and no passengers...

...then on your 16th birthday we went to the DMV and got a real license. Insurance was like $100 a year...

I remember that rode a year with a permit. I renewed my permit because I could not get a car to take the test in 1965.
