Wow ... thanks, those pop, almost look modern:laughing Kinda working with damaged goods; there weren't pro photogs hanging around the track, you had to get a buddy to take some 'snap shots'

yea, i was on 51.

Yea, a couple by you but like you said they were from the 50th anniv site and I gave those pics to the guys who posted them. I worked with Paul Ritter on the "Lap Time" club paper. I got press passes for a few years.

A labor of love, no doubt.

Indeed.. and I have heard from quite a few that they would not have gone racing with the AFM if they were not on barf. That is a cool thing because the AFM creates lifetime memories... as you can see in my pics. :teeth

Went to the International Motorcycle Show today with Peter Smith (started racing in the AFM in the late 70's) and saw Mike Kauzlarich's Kawasaki H2 there. I've heard it run before...it's pretty sweet. It's funny...we hadn't seen him in more than 20 years when we saw him at JoMo's service at Sears Point, and now we've run into him 3 times since then :)

Look closely at the middle photo on the left and you'll see Marty Siegel (RIP)

Of course you mean Mike. Me and Mike were buddies in the late 70s, we raced against each other, raced together in enduros, partied together. I haven't seen him in 30+ years. Do you have any contact information for him?

Hah! Yeah, you're right...I did mean Mike :blush I was so concerned with spelling his last name right (which I've never gotten right.) I don't have any contact information for him but I can try to find him. He lives in Castro Valley, I think. We seem to be running into each other on a semi-regular basis lately so I'll try to remember to get some info when I see him again.

Sorry haven't been on guys but since eye-surgery, I can't hardly look at the bright-azz screen, much less read off it! :teeth
hey Dave, we know each other. (I was teaching when we met, raced formula mazdas). I know there are a handful of 70s racers here: me, you, curt (first buell) and portere, but i'm always looking for more. Made a lot of good friends back then that i've lost touch with. The days before knee pucks, run off, air fences and tire warmers, when racing was dangerous and sex was safe.
Hi Bob, haven't forgotten about you at all. You were the 1st guy to let me ride a Beemer! :thumbup We had some great rides back in the day...

Hope things are still going well for you. You still teaching? You must be nearing retirement? Still doing the open wheelers? Was a gas watch you run at Laguna! :teeth

Dave said: One of my strongest memories is watching David Emde & Daryl White banging cases/fairings entering Turn 2 every 750cc Superstreet race
;
The view from directly behind in 3rd was really something! Especially at the start of a race entering T2! The 2 of them always left 4 lines of rubber going into the turn (2 front tires & 2 back tires drifting!) :teeth

Wow...Daryl White...I'd love to see a photo of him racing if you ever find the time to scan those photos I'm sure Ron would like to see them, too
Pretty sure I got photos of both of them as they were direct competitors in my class. Took several; now to find them....:)

I have literally thousands of 75'-90'ish AFM/AMA pics. Most are negatives/slides, or 8x10 pics. Boxes & boxes. Most of course was just prior to & after my racing (when I was into Photography.) All taken w/a Canon AE1 & various lenses. Some were right @ trackside (within feet!) w/press passes even, even at the GP's at Laguna (worked at radio station so got press passes.)

I'll get to them as soon as I can; right now I cant due to recent nasty eye surgery. Soon I hope.....?

Anyone got a negative scanner? Sure would like to borrow one or get help scannign in some of these negatives as I can't see shineola right now...:p

Do we know each other?

I don't think so, Bob :)

-big letters for EastBayDave so he can see them :thumbup
EBDave, I'd love to help you scan your photos, but as you can see (or, uh...maybe you can't? :)) my scanner isn't the best as it leaves diagonal streaks on the scanned photos. If you don't care, I'd be more than happy to scan your 8X10's for you when I get back from a week in Nevada. I'd like a solution to the slide thing, too, as I have tons of slides from the early days of Eric's racing (`84.)
