How is this not already in the BEST OF BARF section???

Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!

Best thread I have seen in a long time

Right on! Glad my scanner is earning its keep :laughing

Wow, I remember a few of those guys when I was just starting, Joe Brett, and Montano.

Paul Kellogg was a friend, I think it was 95 when he won the championship as I was just starting with AFM

He might have won something in 95, too, if he wasn't doing supermoto by then, but this championship was in `92, as we were racing dirtbikes by `95 :teeth
The ride that clinched it...

A few of those guys are still racing now, I think. Kamholz does SuperMoto, Montano and Earnest still road race, yeah?

Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing! :thumbup

I like this one. "We don't need no stinkin' airfence..."

Hey, at least the hay bales were better than the old tires that preceded them :laughing

Superawesome WC! :applause

Thanks, Mr. slyd :)

Yeah. Montano is a test rider and writes for Cycle News, and he's been doing the Isle of Man for years. Earnest is still at it. Dave Deveau was doing supermoto a few years back, too, I think? I know Jeff Hagan was.

(yeah, I'm quoting myself :laughing)

I also remember this as being 1992 because it was Eric's last year of racing after 8 years and we were doing on the Sunday Morning Ride again. We were on our way to Tam Junction one wet morning and my friend Gary lowsided on the sharp righthander offramp, his GSXR 750 (now mine) dumping its oil all over the place. We were trying to clean it up when we heard a bike coming. We tried to get the guy to slow down but he was coming in hot and he went down in Gary's oil. As he went sliding by we recognized him as our buddy Paul, and we noted that he must have gotten a new FZR 400 that week :laughing
Yep, he'd just picked it up the day before...hadn't even taken the stock plastics off yet:p It was this bike in the photo above :thumbup

Awesome photos... Good reminder to take photos every chance you get. In 30 years the photo will hold a story and moments that some will not believe.

You are so right! At the time it was all about the bikes and racing, and I really wish I had more "people" photos from back then. I also wish I had more photos from the earlier days. Eric started racing in 1984 but there just aren't that many photos from that era. Lots of slides hidden away in his dad's things but I don't have access to them :( Not yet, anyway. I'm working on it a lot harder now.

I'm on my way to Oregon to ride my dirt bike right now. I'll post up a few more when I return early next week. in the meantime, give us all you got, budman!

We see Kurt Marriner around every now and again. Last time was at a BLM meeting for Clear Creek. He looks exactly the same!

Here are some more..

Grabbed the photo album.. so scanning will be done on more.

I think my favorite racing picture ever is the one where I am telling my son Kyle I love him and I will be back in 30 minutes after my race. His smile.. the trusting nature of a son knowing Dad will be coming back safely just always got me.

My boys and I created secret good luck handshakes that we did before every race. Luckily for me.. I did return safe every time. Maybe not on my bike..:laughing

But safe in the crash truck none the less.

DJ took the picture of Kurt Marriner and I "side by side" on the straight before any chicanes and shit.. full run down to T11 and then go baby!!

The 1989 Endurance team James Stevens and I took 7th overall and 4th in the Open Superbike Class on my Production Gixxer 750.. good day. Lots of fun.
