P.S. I used to help take care of my folks. I live just across the bridge from Paul and would be willing to help out as well.

^ this is full of win! :)

Wendy, we've already got plans for you! bwaaahahahahha! (actually they 're right up your alley)

I :love BARF- I have never been part of any group more dedicated to helping each other out, no matter what. proud to be a part of it.

Paul- hope you're reading these this afternoon and catching up from Vallejo. we :love you!!!!!

According to Paul, the SUV that broke his fall was ILLEGALLY parked! Paul wants to pay the driver's ticket. Do you think BARF'ers can make that happen?

In the photo somebody posted of the SUV I noticed that yellow painted curb thingee underneath the SUV and wondered whether that meant it was illegally parked.

Naw. Paul ought to take the "hit" on that ticket. That driver's mistake was his saving grace.

But certainly other BARFers can do whatever they want.

Will he be in a body cast as well?

P.S. I used to help take care of my folks. I live just across the bridge from Paul and would be willing to help out as well.

As I understand it, he'll be in a wheelchair, not a body cast (broken bones have been plated & screwed, so no need for casting).
After I talk to Paul today, I should be posting up my "Action Plan", and all help will be greatly appreciated! :)

okey doke, just let me know

fyi, I don't do bedpan duty, my bedside manners suck, and I can't stand the sight of blood :cry

So I'll do anything that doesn't involve me getting grossed out or having to be nice :toothless :rofl

Sweetie, you won't even need to leave your home! :laughing

If BARFers can track down "DivineZ", I'm sure they can find the SUV driver... they have teh mad skillz!!!
Come on, BARFers... how about it? Let's see if maybe we can help out the guy who literally saved a BARFer's life by pushing the parking envelope!

I didn't mean that BARFers should pay the ticket. Paul wants to pay the fine. However, it does mean finding out who the SUV driver is and making it right with him/her.

Ack...I'm a couple of days late on this one, but I'm so relieved to hear that Paul is on the mend. Rest up, man. When you're off the pain meds, let me know and I'll bottle up a bunch of tasty brew and deliver it to you. Hope you like Belgian ales....

Wouldn't that info be in the police report?

Police report won't be ready for awhile yet, according to the gal I spoke with at CHP yesterday.

Since he brews some pretty fabulous ales himself, I'm going to say your gift would be greatly appreciated!!! :thumbup

That info will be on page 1 of PR which is usually available within 48 hours-the actual police report won't be available for at least 10 days.

UPDATE:

Just got off the phone with Paul. To date, he's had 2 surgeries... they plated his broken pelvis, and screwed together the broken vertebrae in the Sacral (I think) part of his back. Unfortunately, when they x-rayed the screws, they weren't set right, so yesterday they went back in, and re-did them.
He's still at SF General, because he has a blood clot, so they won't transfer him until that issue has been resolved.

Because the bike is fully insured, there needs to be an inspection by the insurance company before it leaves the tow yard... so I'm getting that process started. Once they've done their part, either the bike will be totaled, or I'll get it to Paul's, or whatever shop he wants to do the repair work. So bike is still "in jail", but shouldn't be for much longer.

ACTION PLAN- or, How to Help Paul! :)

When Paul is released from the hospital, he's going to be in a wheelchair. It's going to be difficult for him to do things like cook (his kitchen is really tiny, and not exactly "ADA Compliant"...). If you would like to do something to help Paul out, I'm asking anyone (ahem... Wendy) with cooking skills to cook up one big meal (for instance, I'll be making a tray of lasagna), portion it out into "man-sized" servings, package (either ziplock bags or the gladware stuff- some even come with sections, like for pork chops & mashed potatoes), and freeze. I'm happy to come pick it up from you. That way, he'll have good, home-cooked meals and will simply have to pop them in the microwave.
If you'd like to help out (or guys who can't cook, ask the wife/girlfriend if they're willing to help out! :) ), please PM me. I'll make a list, and keep everyone updated as to when he's coming home.
Paul has no food allergies, and when asked what he doesn't like, said only that he's "not a fan of the veggie..." :laughing
