... or Number 5?

I forgot completely about this thread...20 pages later I'm still scanning?

Oh, yeah #5 is former FIM 500cc World Champion Marco Lucinelli (spelling?), I think he was the 82' Champ?

Yeah, it was always pretty cool when the big names would come back from Europe to race at Laguna before the reconfiguration of the track & and the GP's. It was so casual that it was cool to walk right up to them & they seemed to enjoy it, too. It truly was a special time.

If I recall correctly Lawson was NEVER happy w/photogs/reporters/& barely with fans. Always had a scowl on his face...never looked happy. :p

I worked at Road America for many years. During a race week I'd often have dinner with racers who were in the restaurant. Lawson was very personable and quiet spoken. He always calculated his words when around the team managers and with the Kawi brass. If we happened to be there without the entourage he was one of da guys.

Dang, Firstbuell, I`m still trying to get my mind around the Guzzi racer front brake. Looks like they just took out the four shoe and added disc without changing/relacing the hub??

cereal,

IIRC, it's a period piece from top-line, late 60s/early 70s Brit road racers,
used by Rickman and other Lockheed/AP-phobes - an OEM fitment on some Rickmans

cool! - OZ-based Guzzi/Ducati expert Ian Falloon backs me up here -

http://books.google.com/books?id=Ve...result&resnum=3#v=onepage&q=Guzzi ZDS&f=false

further, from "Vintage Motorcycles Online" -

"....Kerker ditched the Ambassador’s shrouded forks for a set of Rickman trees and tubes,
complete with its large diameter cast alloy carrier for the Lockheed disc brake....Ready to race, the bike tipped the scales at 331-lb...."

shown below is a German Horex 500cc Rickman prototype with this hub,
& a 2nd of the Guzzi, from the backsde, clearly showing its details

Not as fast as I look.
I was cleaning out some old boxes I had stored and found some pics from the motorcycle races at Laguna Seca in the early 80's...
I am glad that you referenced this thread. I need to get out more often. I missed it for 5 years, now. :twofinger

Sweet John... Look at turn one.. guardrail... hillside..

The old Laguna had its dangers.!

I ran in to some guys you raced with, at Laguna last weekend. If I drink enough scotch, I will remember their names and pas them along.

Yeah, I think it was 1982 but I can't remember.
I have one more that is really faded with Cooley and Rainey.
