I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask or if this 34 year old bike is considered vintage(?), but thought I'd start here.

I have a 1987 Ninja 250R. It has been in storage for about 8 years and I'm thinking about getting it semi-restored and running again. It would be helpful to make contact with other owners of this specific model.

Any suggestions? Here on BARF or other specific forums?

omg those are my favorite generation ninjette,

the one that got away, I once saw a classified ad for that same gen frame / bodywork, that someone had stuffed a rotax 650 single into
that sounded to me like a good time

Great little bikes. My friend used to have one. It had the bad intake valves that sank into the seats. It got to where he couldn't get it started. Had his son tow him behind the car. Backfired into the airbox and lit on fire. Ahh good times...

omg those are my favorite generation ninjette,

+1 ... just love the styling of the first-Gen Ninja 250. :thumbup

have not seen one in the wild in years ...

the Antique Motorcycle Club of America considers bikes older than 35 years to qualify for their club so I’d say the Ninjette counts as vintage here.

good luck with your project and search for info, Frame Maker! :gsxrgrl

imagine there was a robust e-mail list for that model at one time ...?

STOP! Now you went and got me thinking about what other engines I could stuff into it... like maybe an RZ350... or better yet, I happen to have a spare RZ250 (yes, two-50). Then it would still be a "250" but 2-stroke. Oh my mind reels.:party

Yep, the styling is exactly why I got it! Interesting about the 35 year designation for "vintage":thumbup
