We did the classic sport-touring loop of Georgetown, Wentworth Springs Road, 11 Pines Road, Mosquito Ridge Road and back to Auburn last weekend. Here's our Relive link:
Bungee Brent's Run, 08/08/2020
Our frend Bungee Brent and fifteen of his Oakland Motorcycle Club friends met us in Georgetown on Saurday morning.
The 11 Pines/NF-2 Bridge over the Rubicon River on 11 Pines Road ...
Bungee had a drone, so we made an OMC sign on the bridge ...
He takes credit for the county ordinance prohibiting fun ... :laughing
A road sign near the French Meadows Reservoir ...
Taking a break at the intersection of Mosquito Ridge Road at the reservoir ... it was a hot day.
The North Fork Bridge on Mosquito Ridge Road ... it's a curved, deck truss bridge with cantilever elements, built in 1946 ... it crosses the Middle Fork of the American River. :ride
Bungee Brent put on a great ride, and we could just barely keep up with all the good OMC riders, who basically could all ride rings around the SFMC ... :teeth We ended the ride at the Crooked Lane Brewing Company in Auburn and relived all the usual group-ride drama over their wonderful beer and root beer ... arty
The next day we made our way to Sierra City and rode the Gold Lake Highway on Monday ... that's the Sierra Buttes in the background.
Another view of the Sierra Buttes from the Wild Plum NF campground in Sierra City ... we stayed here two nights, before I had to ride my 1988 BMW K75s back to San Francisco for work ... Cary continued on with her 2016 Yamaha FJ-09 to Quincy and Ferndale and Gualala where I rode back to meet her on Saturday. All in all a good week of sport-touring and social distancing and mask wearing in NorCal ... :afm199
Can't recommend that Mosquito Ridge Road loop enough, if you've never done it ... a wonderful goat-y paved motorcycle ride, for sure.
