PSA: Calaveras is on FIRE

Did the Saturday loop this morning, there were at least 3 if not 4 on going burns on the hillside immediately adjacent to Calaveras Rd. There were at least a dozen fire trucks responding, complete with helicopter bucket as well as platoons of fireman marching in full gear.

Note that they had sprayed fire retardant covering the Milpitas side, that combined with the burn smoke and charred hill side makes for bad times. Once they open up Calaveras Rd. again, keep an eye out for the pink stuff covering the road, one of the fire marshals warned me that the retardant covered surfaces will be slippery as ice.

Saw that on the way to Alices on 280 this AM. Looked like a big fire for sure. Hope no ones home was near it.

purrfect
they are fire engines not trucks, a fire truck has at least 150 foot of ladder.
glad to see them taking care of the ladder fuels

Very nice fire marshall letting me know that the retardant covered patches will be "slippery as snot"

Make sure you rinse that retardant off ASAP. It can etch the paint on your bike.

Thanks for the heads up! Wish I wasn't on an air cooled Ducaca, the pink slime is everywhere, spending Sunday morning scrubbing each fin clean is :thumbdown:thumbdown

So, is it "slippery as snot"?

Never knew that snot was slippery, but alliteration makes for a more memorable "warning":laughing...it actually wasn't bad, but then again I was going super slow to account for the emergency vehicles.

Here's the news coverage, 128 acres!! Based on the small patches of fires I past (that eventually combined into bigger burns), wouldn't be surprised if it was arson :x...cause still under investigation though.

Reports I heard yesterday were that a guy in a silver Subaru was seen setting fires along the road in several locations...

https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/09...-to-bay-area-and-setting-milpitas-grass-fires

A man from the Kansas City area flew to the Bay Area, drove a rental car toward the Calaveras Reservoir east of Milpitas, and threw flaming pieces of paper along the grassy foothills, igniting more than a dozen fires in a 24-hour span this past weekend... Graham set four fires Friday and nine more Saturday, and was on the verge of getting out of town undetected when he was arrested by Cal Fire officials Monday while returning his rental car at Mineta San Jose International Airport... Graham faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Porter said Graham had no apparent connections to California, and that why he targeted the Bay Area, or wanted to start the fires in the first place, remains unclear.

Yeah, that's a big old WTF right there.

Darwin's exception
Lets chain him up and start him on fire. I seriously hope they throw the book at him and he's never out. :thumbdown

Arson is a mental disorder = the arsonist is likely Libtarded and not a Patriot.
You shouldn't address Patriots as arsonist; that is madness.
I'm just throwing this out there. There are some people who really hate us "Librul Libtards" out here in Kalifornistan, especially in this political climate. Maybe this "patriot" came out to teach us a lesson.

Mad
Try being nice.
