On my r6 i can easily power it up (bounce) in 1st but i can't seem to power it up in 2nd, is it because of my fat ass (210lbs)?? I dont like 1st gear wheelies, a bit too squirley and doesnt last so long. :|

Actually, I don't believe I have ever heard of anyone powering up an R6 in any gear other than 1st. Unless you are bouncing them up while standing you are going to have to use the clutch to get it up.

yeah. thats what i thought too, because the wheel barely comes up at all in second, i've powered it up in 1st, but i wonder if i can shift to 2nd to keep it going, hmm i dunno.....maybe i just need more practice

Now stunting the twisties
shifting isnt that hard...i actually shift on the way up...go about 5500 rpm...let of bounce and throttle...shift before im at balance point and the wallaaaa...you have a long wheelie. just let of a second as you shift and it will go right in. After you conquer 1st gears good its not that dificult..took me a day..maybe two at most to get shifting wheelies. just practice it over and over at a squid day :D

shifting to 2nd

I like the idea of shifting to 2nd on the way up because you start slower and probably can wheelie for a longer time before you hit way high speed. It's certainly not easy at all though.

BentR6? can you provide a lot more details about shifting to 2nd on the way up? left hand position readiness, timing, etc...

Thanks,
KT

Shifting a wheelies is pretty straight forward. I shift mine after I ride them out a little but the concept is all the same. Once you pull it up in first all you do is let off the throttle just enough to drop the front end a little. When your off the throttle you kick it up into second. No clutch, shift just like you would if you weren't using the clutch riding normally. The first couple of times it'll probably just drop back down but with a little practice it shouldn't be a problem. Also make sure and let off the throttle before you shift or you'll have a good chance of getting a little to high. I think that;s it if you have any more questions let us know.
